Fallout 76 Pulled in 4 Million New Players This Year

As a seasoned gamer with over a decade of Fallout fandom under my belt, I can confidently say that this year has been nothing short of atomically fantastic for Fallout enthusiasts like myself! From the graphical upgrade of Fallout 4 to the much-anticipated debut of the Fallout TV series on Amazon Prime, it’s been a post-apocalyptic power trip.

It has been one hell of a year for Fallout.

Over the past year, the Fallout franchise has flourished significantly, with the latest update for Fallout 4, its premiere on the critically praised Fallout TV series on Amazon Prime, and the recent live-action adaptation boosting player numbers tremendously. This growth can be clearly seen in one specific game title.

The multiplayer role-playing game installment of the Fallout series, specifically Fallout 76, has garnered 21 million players as per Bethesda Game Studios’ recent update. This number represents an increase compared to the 17 million players reported at this same time last year.

Atomic Growth

After initially facing challenges, Fallout 76 is now receiving appreciation and recognition it deserves. It took an acclaimed TV series to convince many about its worth, yet as a continuous service game, it’s here to stay for the long haul.

Lately, Bethesda Game Studios has been actively adding content to the world of Fallout 76, unveiling new locations and introducing fresh happenings and updates for the approximately 21 million players roaming the wasteland to experience.

In a post on the Bethesda site, the team wrote:

As I wandered those dusty trails, I’ve come across more than 21 million survivors hailing from Vault 76, each one a beacon of courage in this post-apocalyptic world.

That must be a huge vault!

Back in 2018 when Fallout 76 hit the market, it was met with a wave of ridicule and discontent, and it took quite some time for its reputation to improve. Even now, there are still many gamers who are unaware that Fallout 76 is not the shadow of its former self as they once perceived it to be.

Take it from me, a die-hard Fallout fan of 15 years – Fallout 76 is good, at the very least.
