Famed Hidden Blade Location In Nioh 3 (Memories In The Blade Myth)

In Nioh 3, the blacksmith within the Eternal Rift needs your help! She’s lost some of her memories and believes examining famous hidden blades from the Heian Era will restore them. Your task is to find these blades, mostly located in the southern areas of the Heian Era, as part of the ‘Memories in the Blade’ mythic quest. Here’s a guide to finding all of them.

Memories In The Blade Myth Guide In Nioh 3

To begin the “Memories in the Blade” Myth in Nioh 3, first finish the “Sacred Mountain Defiled” main quest during the Heian Era. Once that’s done, return to the Eternal Rift and talk to the blacksmith. She’ll give you a task: find three special blades made by skilled artisans.

Famed Hidden Blade Location #1

Talk to the blacksmith one more time. After looking into things, she’ll tell you where to find the first sword. Then, go to the west side of the Hachijo area and teleport to the Nishiichi Shrine.

Head up the north slope and climb the ladder. Once at the top, turn west and break the boxes to uncover a Spirit Vein. Use the vein to cross to the other side, then walk around the house to the back. You’ll find the Dojikiri Yasutsuna hidden blade near the tombstone.

Famed Hidden Blade Location #2

After you give the first item to the blacksmith, they’ll ask you to find another one, marking its location on your map. To find it, quickly travel to the west side of Sagano by going to the Matsuo-taisha Shrine: Great Torii Shrine.

Climb the stairs and turn left to break the bamboo, revealing a hidden doorway. Turn left once more and jump onto the roof of the old house, then go through the opening. Inside, open the chest to find the Mikazuki Munechika blade.

Famed Hidden Blade Location #3

You can find the final blade, Odenta Mitsuyo, inside the Crucible, but it’s only available while you’re playing the Frozen City, Blazing Tree main quest. Explore the Crucible until you reach the Palace Grounds, specifically the Shunka Gate Bodhisattva Statue. Then, go up the nearby hill and defeat the yokai in the house. You’ll find the blade in a chest inside.

Players can re-play the quest using the Battle Scroll in the Shrine if they missed the blade.

If you return the sword to the blacksmith, she’ll regain her memory – she’ll remember her name and who originally taught her how to forge weapons.

Senji Toyo thanks the players, explaining that her restored memories now allow her to create more items, finishing the Memories in Blades Myth in Nioh 3. As a reward, you’ll receive Smithing Texts for every famous blade you discovered, letting you craft them.
