However, the early responses from test screenings of the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot didn’t align with the excitement generated by the anticipation.

In his recent newsletter, The InSneider, entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider revealed some exclusive insights about The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Reportedly, a confidential test screening of the movie didn’t receive a favorable response. As per Sneider’s source, the film was described as “mediocre” and “average,” neither great nor terrible. The criticisms included insufficient character development and subpar CGI effects. However, it was suggested that the CGI issues could be resolved next month. Interestingly, Marvel had initially been enthusiastic about First Steps, but another source, who hasn’t seen the film yet, labeled it as a “mess” and a potential “problem movie.” It seems like the latter assessment might hold true given the lukewarm reaction to the recent screening.

The screening for the new Fantastic Four movie was held in Los Angeles, according to Murphy’s Multiverse. The report pointed out that the film seemed to stick closely to the comic book storyline and, after gathering feedback, was described as “thrilling” and “familiar.” Furthermore, Ralph Ineson’s portrayal of Galactus, the main antagonist, is said to be particularly chilling. One viewer quoted in the report found the plot reminiscent of cosmic horror with a Lovecraftian feel, adding that it had a unique personality. However, just like other sources, Murphy’s Multiverse noted that the film wasn’t flawless, mentioning the lack of character development, particularly for Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal) and Ben Grimm/The Thing, portrayed by Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
