Far Cry: New Dawn Getting 60 FPS Update on Xbox Series and PS5

Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry: New Dawn, their post-apocalyptic release from 2019, will now run at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. This news prompted enthusiasts of the series to express surprise, with some emphasizing that other Ubisoft games could also benefit from such an update from the developer.

Just got word that starting February 4, I’ll be able to dive into Far Cry: New Dawn through my Game Pass subscription! This upgrade might just provide the key to unraveling its improved performance.

Smoother is Better

After all these years, I can hardly believe it’s finally happening – Ubisoft is giving one of the most underestimated Far Cry games an overdue upgrade after six long years!

As a passionate gaming enthusiast with a soft spot for post-apocalyptic settings, the arrival of Borderlands 3: New Dawn was like music to my ears. Given my deep affection for stories set in such environments, it’s no surprise that this new installment resonated deeply with me.

The game takes place following Far Cry 5’s conclusion, where the player finds themselves in an underground shelter as global nuclear war breaks out. Once the dust settles, a remarkable sight unfolds – a world dominated by nature’s reclaim, wandering outlaw groups, and settlements of resilient survivors struggling to make it through each day.

In contrast to the typical themes of the Far Cry series, this installment offers an unusual spin on a post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Unlike bleak worlds depicted in games like Fallout or Metro, it’s vibrant and colorful, presenting an overly saturated interpretation of the end times.

Upgrading games on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 to run at 60 frames per second is quite nice, and it could persuade me to revisit the game once it arrives on Game Pass next week.

On social networking platforms, Ubisoft admitted that the method they originally intended for revealing the upgrade wasn’t as planned. They found it necessary to disable the ‘FPS Boost’ on Xbox consoles to implement the change, which led them to announce it earlier than expected, as they believed players might pick up on this adjustment.
