Summary
- Bankai vary in operation, some finish opponents in seconds.
- Unohana’s Minazuki skewers weaker foes instantly with blood.
- Tosen’s immediate sensory lockdown Bankai ensures quick victories.
As a seasoned Bleach fan, I can confidently say that I’ve witnessed some extraordinary abilities throughout the series, but none quite like these swift and deadly Bankais. Each of these Zanpakuto holds a unique power, crafted by the soul of its wielder, reflecting their deepest fears, desires, or even quirks.
In the anime Bleach, the powerful techniques known as Bankai used by Soul Reapers exhibit a wide range of functioning styles. Some captains and lieutenants wield Bankai that require time to activate and utilize, making their enemies witness a terrifying spectacle as they gradually lose strength under the influence of their adversary’s Zanpakuto. In contrast, many Bankai are renowned for their rapid execution speed, swiftly concluding battles with incredible haste.
Some Bankai can instantly annihilate opponents within a matter of mere seconds, making them both incredibly terrifying and incredibly useful in tight spots during intense battles. Among all the Bankai displayed throughout Bleach‘s narrative, these are the quickest to activate and produce an effect.
8. Minazuki (Yachiru Unohana)
Weaker Opponents Will Be Skewered Instantly By Unohana’s Blood-Based Bankai
In the original manga, Unohana’s Bankai against Zaraki Kenpachi wasn’t entirely clear about its function. However, the anime made it more understandable by depicting Minazuki as a skill that lets the user manipulate blood, which Unohana uses to produce both short and extended blades, attacking her opponent from various directions.
Kenpachi might have put up a fight when Minazuki appeared, but this is a Bankai that swiftly eliminates weaker adversaries in mere seconds if they don’t have a means to defend themselves. Given the vast number of lives Unohana has ended throughout her career, it’s understandable why she wouldn’t waste time subduing another unfortunate target, which explains why her Bankai is so swift and deadly.
7. Tensa Zangetsu (Ichigo Kurosaki)
Ichigo Received An Impressive Speed Boost With Tensa Zangetsu Unleashed
In the course of most the series, Ichigo primarily employs his Bankai. However, it was during the climactic Soul Society arc battle that he unveiled this Bankai, having astonishingly managed to attain it following mere days of intensive training. This transformation allowed him to match Byakuya’s formidable speed and power, a feat he previously found challenging.
As I unleash this form, I find myself astonishingly agile, nimbleness that even outpaces Byakuya in certain instances during our battle. Yet, while this agility allows me to vanquish foes in a blink of an eye, the speed at which I can do so greatly depends on the strength of my adversary. Given that I’m the main character of this tale, most of my opponents are top-tier in terms of power, making it necessary for me to employ my Bankai for extended durations to gradually wear them down. However, even with such high-caliber foes, my speed remains more than sufficient to swiftly dispatch anyone who isn’t a powerful Espada or Soul Reaper captain.
6. Suzumushi Tsuishiki: Enma Korogi (Kaname Tosen)
Tosen Immediately Cuts Off His Opponent’s Senses Upon Creating His Large Black Sphere
Tosen’s Bankai is an incredibly potent maneuver that doesn’t need any additional actions or advance notice. Merely uttering “Bankai” triggers a massive, black dome enclosure around him and his adversary, instantly isolating their senses. This leaves both combatants essentially defenseless and exposed for Tosen to strategically attack from concealment.
Given that his unique Bankai was only demonstrated against the apparently indestructible Zaraki Kenpachi, the strongest Soul Reaper in the series, Tosen didn’t manage to complete the task swiftly. Yet, if the adversary had been even slightly weaker, this exceptional Bankai would have enabled him to effortlessly decimate them.
5. Tekken Tachikaze (Kensei Muguruma)
A Bankai Which Allows The User To Unleash A Quick Flurry Of Explosive Punches
As an avid fan, I must say, wielding Kensei’s Bankai feels like unleashing raw, unbridled power! It’s remarkably akin to Ikkaku’s in terms of sheer destructive potential against unsuspecting foes. Yet, the key distinction lies in the timing. Unlike Ikkaku who needs to build up his energy, Kensei can strike with immediate impact, pulverizing opponents from the very first blow! This was evident during his fierce clash with Mask de Masculine.
Despite Mask being able to withstand Kensei’s punches thanks to James’ assistance, this Bankai enables Kensei to swiftly overpower opponents susceptible to his powerful assaults. Though it seldom appears in the series, this Bankai has proven itself more than competent in defeating anyone who crosses Kensei, using a rapid sequence of intense and relentless strikes.
4. Unnamed (Zaraki Kenpachi)
Kenpach’s Bankai Allows Him To Get Straight Into The Thick Of The Action
Similar to Captain Kenpachi’s character, this Bankai dives headfirst into the heart of combat with no hesitation. This swift action instantly amplifies Kenpachi’s power, turning his skin a deep crimson hue and granting him an overwhelming strength that transforms him into a ferocious beast solely focused on causing carnage and shedding as much blood as possible.
In Kenpachi’s fight against Gerard in the manga, it appears his undisclosed Bankai enhances his speed significantly, making it simple for him to knock down the colossal Sternritter, ensuring a precise strike with his sword. Whenever Kenpachi shouts his distinctive phrase, his enemies understand that their time is running out, and they’ll barely have enough time to attempt escaping before being split in two.
3. Jakuho Raikoben (Soi Fon)
One Giant Missile That Can Obliterate An Opponent In Mere Seconds
Soi Fon finds her missile-like Bankai somewhat awkward for an assassin like herself due to its massive size. However, this formidable weapon is capable of inflicting immense damage. Yet, Soi Fon mentions that it can only launch one missile every three days to minimize strain on her body.
Due to this, Soi Fon’s Bankai tends not to linger for too long, because once she identifies her target, takes aim, and fires, it swiftly incinerates her adversary. In essence, her Bankai is efficient and doesn’t overstay its welcome, as it’s primary goal is to complete the task rapidly so Soi Fon can resume her stealthy operations promptly.
2. Hakka No Togame (Rukia Kuchiki)
Rukia’s Bankai Freezes Everything Within Close Proximity Almost Instantly
In the tale of Bleach, Rukia’s Zanpakuto is consistently linked to ice. Despite frequently employing her Shikai, it was during her battle against Sternritter As Nodt that Rukia finally revealed her eagerly anticipated Bankai, Hakka no Togame. Once activated, the Bankai froze the entire vicinity, with As Nodt being among those encased. Moments after Rukia released the technique, As Nodt disintegrated.
Even though Hakka no Togame carries a risk of harming its user due to its fast pace, it can swiftly eliminate multiple enemies in a short span when utilized correctly. Interestingly, the activation of this Bankai happens instantly, but it’s the recuperation period that tends to be prolonged.
1. Kamishini No Yari (Gin Ichimaru)
A Bankai Which Is 500 Times Faster Than The Speed Of Sound
In the thrilling world of Bleach, I, a passionate fan, was instantly captivated by the moment my Bankai made its debut. Early on in the series, I extended my blade to block Ichigo’s entry into the Soul Society, offering a tantalizing peek into its power. From that point forward, it was evident that my Zanpakuto could stretch to mind-boggling lengths when activated. However, what truly left everyone stunned was the blistering speed at which this extension could accelerate, especially when I invoked my Bankai!
As per Gin’s explanation, Kamashini no Yari is an exceptionally fast Zanpakuto, capable of extending at 500 times the speed of sound. This makes it the fastest in the entire Soul Society. However, its mind-boggling speed isn’t the only impressive aspect; the Bankai has shown the ability to cut through buildings in an instant. Although Gin has only unleashed it once, he made it abundantly clear that his ultimate attack can eliminate opponents so swiftly they wouldn’t even sense being struck, making it a truly petrifying power.
