Bottle Caps and Golden Bottle Caps are essential for experienced Pokémon Trainers aiming to maximize their Pokémon’s potential through Hypertraining. In Pokémon Legends Z-A, with breeding removed, these caps are the only reliable way to achieve Pokémon with perfect Individual Values (IVs).

Bottle Caps can be hard to come by, usually earned through completing Missions with Mable’s Research and Rewards. However, the new Mega Dimension DLC introduces a much easier way to collect them – you can now farm as many Bottle Caps as you need! Here’s a guide to quickly and efficiently collecting them.

How To Farm Bottle Caps & Golden Bottle Caps in Pokemon Legends Z-A

If you don’t have the Mega Dimension DLC, the original way to get rewards involves completing the game and then competing in the Infinite Royale. Winning the final match can reward you with either Bottle Caps or Golden Bottle Caps.

After repeatedly earning the maximum Battle Points and visiting Quasartico INC, players can eventually challenge a top Lumiose trainer in a final match. However, this process is quite time-consuming and can be frustrating.

To unlock the newest, fastest way to progress without the downloadable content, players need to advance in the Hyperspace Lumiose Survey missions until they start seeing 3 and 4-Star Hyperspace Battle Zones.

Go into the red-colored Battle Zone Distortions and battle the Hyperspace trainers inside. Look for the Hologram Trainers – they’re easy to find, but they have powerful Pokémon, so be ready for a challenge!

After you defeat a trainer, a yellow box will appear above their head, signaling they’ll give you a reward. The reward will be either several Bottle Caps or one Gold Cap.

The good thing is, these Hologram Trainers come back when you go to the center of the map through Hoopa’s portal. Just head there, restart the encounter, find and defeat the trainers, collect the Bottle Caps they drop, and keep doing that until the time runs out.

There are various things to consider before trying this method:

  • Bringing Donuts with High Level and Item Power will guarantee players receive more rewards and be able to overpower Hologram trainers easily.
  • There’s a limit of time, based on the Calories a Donut has. Keep in mind that Level and Calories are two different stats, and some berries grant more Calories and fewer +Levels, and vice-versa.
  • Bring Pokemon like , , or , and train them to have Speed and Atk, to end fights faster and increase Bottle Cap farming efficiency.

To quickly collect these trainers, the best strategy is to catch them off guard, similar to how you’d approach battles in Legends Z-A. Speed is key, so Pokémon like Lucario (especially its Mega Lucario Z form) and Talonflame are very helpful because they have access to moves that act quickly.
