In April, fans of fighting games will have a chance to test out Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves ahead of its May release, as it was recently announced that an open beta for the game will be available.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Is The First New Entry In The Series In 26 Years

As per SNK’s announcement, the beta test is designed to enhance the online gameplay, and it includes a lineup of eight characters selected from the roster. Additionally, players will encounter two distinct control systems, one tailored for beginners and another optimized for seasoned gamers.

Period: February 20, 2025 (12 AM PST) – February 24, 2025 (11:59 PM PST)

Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam)

Playable Modes: Online Ranked Match, Casual Match, Room Match

As a gamer, I can assure you that having a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription isn’t compulsory for everyone. In case you’re curious about the upcoming game, SNK has mentioned that they’ll unveil the characters included in the beta at a future date.

Back in the ’90s, Fatal Fury was a fighting game franchise that SNK proudly waved as their flag. Though it may not be as widely recognized today, it did garner its own dedicated fanbase. Now, after a 26-year hiatus, we’ve finally been given City of the Wolves – the first installment in the series since Garou: Mark of the Wolves, which was initially launched on Neo Geo, Dreamcast, and PS2 back in 1999.

In the City of the Wolves game, as SNK states, players will find a distinctive artistic approach that appeals strongly to their senses, along with an original REV System designed to amplify the thrill.

Similar to many modern fighting games, City of the Wolves includes a Season Pass containing fresh characters. Despite not having been launched yet, it’s been officially announced that this game will be included in the Evo 2025 tournament lineup.
