In the summer of 2025, a spin-off titled “Firebreak,” developed by Remedy Entertainment, is set to be released. This information, along with a fresh trailer showcasing gameplay clips from “Firebreak,” has been announced by the developers.
Firebreak, known previously as Project/Codename Condor, has been under development since at least June 2021 when Remedy Entertainment officially announced it. This is one of two projects from the Finnish studio following the highly praised game Control, with a sequel to the original game being the other. In October 2024, Remedy confirmed their intention to launch this cooperative shooter in the year 2025.
The creator has specified a more precise timeline for the game’s launch, indicating that “FBC: Firebreak” is expected to hit shelves in summer 2025. In line with earlier reports, the title will make its grand entrance on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms—with distribution through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Notably, “FBC: Firebreak” will be accessible on day one for subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, as well as PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium.
New FBC: Firebreak Trailer Showcases ‘Paper Chase’ Mission
In the game “FBC: Firebreak”, the structure will be centered around missions that players must complete cooperatively to handle hazardous tasks within the game’s universe. One such mission, named Paper Chase, is shown in the game’s most recent trailer, which was released simultaneously with its release window announcement. In Paper Chase, your objective is to control a sticky note uprising in the Executive Sector of “Control”‘s Oldest House. Although the premise might seem amusing, it rapidly escalates into a genuine crisis, forcing players to combat waves of enemies across three areas before engaging in a challenging boss fight.
FBC: Firebreak Will Feature Playstyle-Defining Crisis Kits
Before embarking on each mission, players will select a loadout, which is referred to as a Crisis Kit within the game. Each Crisis Kit comes with exclusive equipment and abilities that shape your gameplay experience. So far, Remedy has unveiled three distinct loadouts: the Fix Kit, which emphasizes close-combat, the Jump Kit, powered by electricity, and the Splash Kit, themed around water. While players of FBC: Firebreak won’t possess Jesse Faden’s extraordinary powers, the game’s Crisis Kits ensure a good amount of variety that encourages diverse playstyles.
Beyond unveiling the release timeframe and posting the March 20 trailer, Remedy announced today a Community AMA (Ask Me Anything) session happening on the FBC: Firebreak Steam page. The interactive event, set to begin at 9am PST / 5pm GMT on March 31, offers fans an opportunity to ask the developers questions about the upcoming game. Given that the first-person shooter is now aiming for a summer 2025 release, it’s expected that the official release date announcement will probably occur this spring.
