Final Fantasy 14 Director Comments on Xbox Releases & Plans

As a long-time fan who’s been through the highs and lows of Final Fantasy games, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by the latest updates from Yoshida-san, the man behind the iconic franchise. The fact that Final Fantasy 14 is getting such a warm welcome on Xbox, a testament to Phil Spencer’s hard work, is music to my ears.

In a recent conversation with Eurogamer, Final Fantasy 14’s director and producer, Naoki Yoshida, shared fresh insights regarding the newest Xbox edition and future game developments.

Yoshida, commonly known as Yoshi-P, shared that they’ve noticed a robust reception of Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox after its launch on the platform.

In addition, they noted that Phil Spencer had put considerable effort into making it happen. As such, we aim to capitalize on this and strengthen our bond with Xbox players in the future.

Yoshida expressed that they view Final Fantasy 14 as merely a beginning. In other words, “We are eager to bring more Square Enix games to Xbox, and you can expect further releases of our titles on this platform.”

Yoshida further discussed the Japanese market for Xbox, making a point that the user base in Japan is significantly smaller compared to other regions. He also suggested that creators worldwide might benefit from targeting audiences within their native countries instead.

In June, Yoshida similarly dismissed the recent speculations suggesting any contribution from their side towards a remake of Final Fantasy 9.

Just a moment ago, it was announced that enthusiasts of the Final Fantasy franchise will be able to play Final Fantasy 16 on their PCs through Steam and Epic Games Store in the year 2024, specifically in September.
