During Patch 7.3, the Warrior of Light and their companions thwarted a plan by the scientist Calyx, who summoned the Primal entity Necron – inspired by Final Fantasy 9’s shocking final boss. Although Calyx managed to escape, it was disclosed that he collaborated with the Ascians, long-standing adversaries of the Warrior of Light.

Following the revelation that the Ascians are set to re-emerge in the main story with update 7.3, Yoshida hinted that players haven’t seen the last of Alexandria yet. During an interview at Gamescom with Feed4Gamers, Yoshida shared that updates 7.4 and 7.5 will still be set in locations linked to the Ninth Reflection, though he remained tight-lipped about specifics to avoid story spoilers. Yoshida mentioned that the pace of the story won’t move as quickly in update 7.4, but there will be a noticeable pickup in speed with update 7.5. He further noted that the plot for update 7.5 has been completed, and voice recording, acting, and production are currently underway; this upcoming chapter is expected to differ from Dawntrail.

Yoshida announced that the upcoming 7.4 content update for Final Fantasy 14 will encompass the final installment of the Arcadion raid series, accompanied by a fresh Variant Dungeon, tailored to accommodate player input from previous versions. The anticipated release date for Patch 7.4 is wintertime, with Patch 7.5 following suit in the spring of 2026, according to the game’s regular patch schedule. Furthermore, Patch 7.5 content update will introduce the Beastmaster Limited Job and the next installment of the Ultimate Raid.
