As a long-time fan of Final Fantasy 14 and a seasoned gamer, I’m thrilled to hear that Square Enix will be showcasing the game at Gamescom in August. Having attended numerous gaming events over the years, I can only imagine the excitement that comes with trying out new challenges and meeting fellow gamers from around the world.

At this year’s Gamescom, which runs from August 21 to 25, Final Fantasy 14 has been confirmed as a participant, following the release of its expansion, Dawntrail, around a month prior. Although it remains undisclosed what Final Fantasy 14 intends to unveil at Gamescom, visitors have the opportunity to engage in a novel battle challenge against Valigarmanda, one of the eight-player bosses from Dawntrail.

Each year, the Gamescom event transpires in Cologne, Germany, serving as a trade show where numerous companies participate. Notably absent are corporations like Sony and Nintendo. In contrast, Square Enix, Sega, The Pokemon Company, among others, have affirmed their participation. For Square Enix, this year’s Gamescom will follow closely after the release of Patch 7.05 for “Final Fantasy 14,” scheduled on August 20th. This update introduces the Cenote Ja Ja Gural treasure map dungeon, the initial four Savage battles of The Arcadion raid series, and adjustments to jobs like the Viper and Black Mage.

At the 2024 Japan Expo in Paris, Final Fantasy 14 addressed some player demands. However, the team isn’t finished with European events yet. As announced on Lodestone, Final Fantasy 14 will attend Gamescom from August 21 to 25. The booth is located at Hall 9.1, Booth B-054 of the Koelnmesse show floor. Naoki Yoshida, the producer and director of Final Fantasy 14, will be present, with many stage events streamed on Twitch. Although the specifics of what will be unveiled at Gamescom remain uncertain, Dawntrail is expected to include new content like the Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) raid, Shades’ Triangle exploration zone, Cosmic Exploration, and a Limited Job named Beastmaster in upcoming updates.

Final Fantasy 14 Will Be At Gamescom 2024

  • Square Enix will be in Hall 9.1, Booth B-054 of the Koelnmesse.
  • A Battle Challenge against Valigarmanda will be available for attendees to try out.
  • Producer and director Naoki Yoshida will be in attendance.
  • Final Fantasy 14 will broadcast a Twitch stream through Gamescom.

It’s uncertain if any of those topics will be discussed by Square Enix during Gamescom, just as they surprised us with new information at the Final Fantasy 14 PAX East panel in March. At Gamescom, participants can try their luck and win an exciting prize by joining the Battle Challenge on the exhibition floor. The challenging serpent boss Valigarmanda will be present throughout Gamescom for groups of eight players to battle against. Successful contestants will receive a desirable “I Beat Valigarmanda” t-shirt, while stocks last.

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that starting from next year, even newbies like me can give the Snowcloak level 50 dungeon in Final Fantasy 14 a try. And let me tell you, Square Enix has been consistently dropping new content for this game throughout 2024, so who knows what they might announce at Gamescom? We’ll just have to wait and see!
