Final Fantasy 14: How to Get the Alte Roite Mount

As a seasoned adventurer in the realm of Eorzea, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when it comes to the Alte Roite mount from Final Fantasy 14. This majestic winged serpent, reminiscent of the boss from Final Fantasy 5, has been eluding me for quite some time now. But fear not, fellow warriors! I’ve managed to crack the code and here’s how you can get your hands on this beauty too.

In much the same way as many Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs), Final Fantasy 14 offers raids that provide players an opportunity to face off against tough end-game bosses for unique rewards unavailable elsewhere in the game. Unlike regular raids, which give players gear suitable for their level bracket, savage raids increase the challenge by changing up boss behaviors and offering top-tier equipment, along with rare mounts, as rewards to those who successfully complete them.

As an ardent enthusiast of Final Fantasy 14, I’ve always admired the exclusive rewards reserved for the game’s most formidable players, who dare to face its toughest challenges. But with each new expansion, it seems that even us latecomers are given a chance to catch up, as our characters’ power levels increase, making it less daunting to confront and conquer those initial bosses.

The distinctive Alte Roite Prism is guaranteed to drop from the challenging Savage Raid, Deltascape V4.0 (Savage), at a 100% rate when you clear it. To access this raid, first, you must complete the Main Scenario Quest “Stormblood” to unlock the Omega raid series. This will enable you to receive the quest “The Hunt for Omega” from Wedge in Rhalgr’s Reach (coordinates 12.6, 12.4). Follow this questline, taking down the four normal difficulty bosses of Deltascape. Upon successful completion and finishing the quest “The Anomaly”, visit the Magitek Terminal in Rhalgr’s Reach (coordinates 13.5, 12.5) and choose “Savage Initiative” to unlock the challenging Savage versions of all Deltascape boss battles.

As a gamer, I dive into Deltascape V4.0 (Savage), where I face off against a digitally reimagined Exdeath, an adversary from the classic game Final Fantasy 5. The challenges here are cranked up a notch, with attacks and mechanics that outdo those found in the Main Scenario Quest or dungeons. But thanks to the enhanced item levels from recent expansions, conquering this boss feels more like a walk in the park.

If you’re planning to tackle Exdeath solo, opting for a tank class could be beneficial, but at the present max item level of 730, certain DPS classes may also successfully defeat him alone. For those with lower item levels finding it tough, teaming up with other players using the Unrestricted Party strategy can help conquer the boss quicker and bypass some of the later boss mechanics. Among the attacks and mechanics you might encounter during the battle are:

Attack NameTips
Dualcast + Blizzard IIITwo avoidable sets of AoEs targetting each player’s location in quick succession. Stack together to reduce the amount of space the blizzards occupy, then dodge out.
Dualcast + Thunder IIIA double-hitting tankbuster that can be lethal to players with lower item levels. Use defensive abilities to reduce its damage, or swap targets with tanks’ Provoke ability to split the damage.
Dualcast + Fire IIITwo unavoidable AoEs, first hitting all DPS players, followed by all non-DPS players. Spread away from other players to avoid hitting each other.
White HoleAll players below maximum life are petrified. Players below half life are instantly defeated. Make sure to heal up before the cast finishes.
Decisive BattleStand next to the last tentacle to sprout. After getting knocked away, follow the tentacles as they swipe down and disappear, making sure to finish behind the head in the center of the arena.
Grand Cross AlphaStand in the center of the arena to avoid Hysteria forcing players off the arena. The first Flood of Naught will deal extra damage to the player closest to the boss and triggers the Off-balance debuff, knocking all players backwards. Stand still to avoid getting knocked up by Acceleration Bomb. A second Flood of Naught will display a blue triangle and purple prism, forcing players to stand on the half of the arena that is opposite of their White Wound or Black Wound debuff.
Grand Cross DeltaPlayers with the Beyond Death debuff will save players from lethal damage, leaving them at one health, but will result in instant death if lethal damage is not taken before its expiration. Players with this debuff should match their White Wound or Black Wound debuff with the boss’ Flood of Naught to take lethal damage.

As the number of players increases in a battle against Exdeath, the intricacy of his attacks tends to grow. This is because with more players involved, there are more potential targets for the boss to inflict debuffs upon or direct its attacks towards. It’s crucial to find a balance between swiftness and complexity when constructing your party composition.
