On October 31st, Final Fantasy 14 revealed details about its next major update, called Into The Mist. Patch 7.4 will arrive on December 16th for all players and will feature the conclusion of the Arcadion raid series, plus several improvements players have been asking for.

Final Fantasy 14’s 7.4 update continues the story begun in patch 7.3, taking players deeper into the Ninth Shard. The journey will lead to the Mistwake dungeon and a new city that runs on electrope. A major highlight will be a battle against the Doomtrain, a memorable enemy from Final Fantasy 8, which serves as the update’s Trial boss. This Trial, called “Hell on Rails,” will have both Normal and Extreme difficulty settings and will reward players with new weapons and a mount. Players are eager to discover what strategies the Doomtrain will employ in this challenging battle.
Final Fantasy 14 Shares Initial Patch 7.4 Plans
Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of Final Fantasy 14, announced during the latest Letter from the Producer broadcast that Patch 7.4, titled “Into The Mist,” will launch on Tuesday, December 16. Players will immediately have access to the normal difficulty of the new Arcadion raid tier, along with new gear created by crafters and a new currency called Allagan Tomestones of Mnemonics. The more challenging Savage version of the raid will become available on January 6. Yoshida explained this staggered release was based on player feedback from the previous raid’s Christmas Eve launch, and the team wanted to avoid disrupting anyone’s holiday plans with the final Savage tier.
Okay, so the 7.4 patch for Final Fantasy 14 is going to seriously shake up how glamour works! Basically, they’re lifting a ton of restrictions on what armor I can make stuff look like. I’ll finally be able to make my Dark Knight look like a White Mage, which is awesome! Weapons and tools will still be job-locked because of animations, but everything else? Fair game. It’s going to be so much easier to customize my character’s look using the Glamour Dresser or Glamour Plates, and honestly, it’s about time! I’m really excited to play around with all the possibilities.

Naoki Yoshida announced that the popular Strategy Board feature is coming to Final Fantasy 14 in Patch 7.4. This will give raid groups a useful tool for tackling the new challenging raid tier, AAC Heavyweight. More details about Patch 7.4 will be shared during the 90th Live Letter broadcast, which will be scheduled soon before the patch releases.
