Key Takeaways

  • Patch 7.11 for Final Fantasy 14 has added the Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) raid.
  • The update also includes some PVP Job adjustments and new rewards.
  • Patch 7.15 launches on December 17.

As a seasoned adventurer with countless tales to tell and battles fought, I must say that the latest update for Final Fantasy XIV has left me quite impressed! The changes made to various jobs, especially the ones I frequently play like Black Mage and Astrologian, seem well thought out and balanced.

On November 26th, the much-anticipated Ultimate raid “Futures Rewritten” was made available in the game Final Fantasy 14. This release also features some changes in PvP jobs and new rewards for players who love to chase achievements.

In simpler terms, “Futures Rewritten (Ultimate)” is an advanced edition of the Eden raid series introduced in the expansion pack called Shadowbringers. The main character and design of this raid are inspired by the strongest Guardian Force from Final Fantasy 8. While there are other connections to Final Fantasy 8 throughout the Eden raids, the narrative revolves around characters named Ryne and Gaia, who aim to reestablish balance for an arid wasteland devastated by the Light Flood. The Eden series consists of twelve raid challenges, including seven fights against alternate versions of Final Fantasy 14’s Primals like Titan and Shiva. The challenging Savage version of Eden’s final tier concludes with a battle against Gaia herself, who transforms into the Oracle of Darkness.

Despite the formidable challenges presented by the Eden raids during Shadowbringers, Patch 7.11 introduced another tough endeavor for Final Fantasy 14 players. As per the patch notes, only those who have completed The Arcadion’s fourth round on Savage difficulty can access the new Ultimate raid, Futures Rewritten (Ultimate). Upon finishing this prerequisite, players need to interact with the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal to unlock the game’s sixth Ultimate raid. The bosses from the Eden raid series like Fatebreaker, Shiva, and Oracle of Darkness have been confirmed to appear in this new challenge. However, at the time of writing, no teams had successfully conquered Futures Rewritten (Ultimate). Defeating it rewards players with a new title and an Oracle Totem that can be traded for an Ultimate Edenmorn weapon of their choice by conversing with a Viera NPC named Uah’shepya in Solution Nine.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled about the latest update in Final Fantasy 14, specifically Patch 7.11. Not only did they introduce the new Ultimate raid, but they also tweaked the Player vs Player (PVP) roles! Two weeks ago, we saw significant changes with the PVP overhaul in Patch 7.1, and now, it’s the Jobs’ turn to feel the impact. The Astrologian, Paladin, and Red Mage have taken a step back, while the Samurai, Machinist, and Viper are receiving boosts. Additionally, new rewards have been added for achievement certificates in this patch. To claim them, all you need to do is pay a visit to Jonathas in Old Gridania.

In the upcoming Patch 7.15 of Final Fantasy 14, set to launch on December 17, additional adjustments are anticipated regarding job performance. As Future Rewritten (Ultimate) is now accessible, we can only speculate what Square Enix has in store for future Ultimate raid battles in Dawntrail and beyond.

Battle System

The high-end duty Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) has been added.

As I navigate through this digital world, each move feels like casting a pebble into a vast, flowing stream. One small action can shift the current’s direction, leading to unforeseen ripples and endless potential outcomes. It’s fascinating how one moment can lead to countless possibilities, shaping the path ahead.

Here, it was in this country that, after being devastated by the Deluge of Light, the resilience of numerous people eventually led to a future graced by the darkness of the night.

If the future shaped by these two young women was merely one among many potential scenarios, what might their tomorrow have been like in different shapes or forms?

Fascinated by such visions, the wandering minstrel weaves a ballad of futures rewritten.

Requirements

Once you’ve finished the AAC Light-heavyweight M4 (Savage), engage in conversation with the Wandering Minstrel, who can be found at coordinates X:11.1 Y:14.6, if your character is a level 100 Disciple of War or Magic.

Entering Futures Rewritten (Ultimate)

To access Futures Rewritten (Ultimate), you’ll need to gather a group of eight players, each of whom has successfully completed the AAC Light-heavyweight M4 (Savage) challenge. This can be achieved using the Raid Finder tool.

Completion Reward

Upon completing Futures Rewritten (Ultimate), players can earn a separate reward once per week.

Players who haven’t received this week’s reward can still collect it, even if other group members finished the task before the weekly update.

In Solution Nine, you can swap the reward for Edenmorn’s finest weapons using Uah’shepya currency at coordinates X:8.7 and Y:13.5.

Reward eligibility is reset every Tuesday at 12:00 a.m. (PST)

  • If multiple party members with the same job are present during an Ultimate raid, the limit gauge will no longer fill as battle progresses.
  • Curing an ally on the brink of death or preventing an enemy from using its special attack will cause the gauge to rise as per normal.

PVP Job Changes

As we progress with Season Twelve, we’ve implemented changes in response to win percentages, aiming to boost roles that are presently underperforming, balance out those performing excessively well, and overall enhance the competitive experience.

Future updates may include modifications to actions’ consequences, not just increases or decreases in numbers, depending on the input we receive from players.

Paladin

Instead of paladin tanks consistently outperforming others with higher victory rates, we’ve decided to fine-tune their offensive and defensive capabilities.

To specifically address the impact Shield Smite was having on game outcomes, we’ve increased the length of time before it can be used again (its cooldown period).

Regarding defensive modifications, we’ve decreased the healing abilities of Sacred Claim, provided by Imperator, and tweaked the barricade absorption capabilities of Holy Sheltron.

Because Holy Sheltron’s ability to deal damage depends on the strength of its barrier, we’ve chosen to boost the percentage that gets transformed into attack power instead, aiming to minimize drastic alterations.

Warrior

In contrast to other tanks, warriors found it challenging to maintain their position at the forefront and seemed to be deficient in offensive strength.

As an avid user, I’ve made some adjustments to enhance my gameplay experience. Now, less High Power (HP) is lost when employing Orogeny, making it more manageable in both offensive and defensive scenarios. Furthermore, I’ve boosted the strength of not just Orogeny, but also Onslaught, which should make them even more effective!

Monk

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that win rates vary significantly based on tier, which can lead to drastic changes in my offensive strategy. To keep things balanced, we’ve opted to shorten the cooldown time for Wind’s Reply. This way, during tight battles, I’ll have more options at my disposal as a monk, enhancing my overall gameplay experience.

Samurai

We have adjusted the range of Tendo Setsugekka and Tendo Kaeshi Setsugekka to match the feel of the former Midare Setsugekka.

To balance things out, we’ve shortened the time period during which Meikyo Shisui affects game outcomes, thereby preventing any further increase in victories that are already excessively high.

Viper

In comparison to other melee Damage Per Second (DPS) roles, we found the Viper character to be relatively weak in terms of offense, both in overall damage output and Knock Out (KO) counts.

As a gamer, I tweaked things up a bit to make my gaming experience smoother. I shortened the recharge time for Bloodcoil and boosted the power of many offensive moves. This means I can now dish out damage more frequently on the battlefield and score knockouts with greater ease!

Machinist

To enhance gameplay, we’ve boosted the strength per hit of Wildfire and reduced the maximum number of its stacking instances from five to four.

Moreover, shortening the recharge time for Full Metal Field aims to expand machinist’s tactical possibilities during combat, allowing them to synchronize its usage with Wildfire and make better use of Overheated’s impact more frequently.

Black Mage

As win rates across all tiers are currently low, adjustments have been made to offensive abilities.

Reducing the duration of cast times and cool-down periods for all actions aims to make spell casting less challenging, facilitating a smoother transition from using High Fire II to High Blizzard II.

Furthermore, we discovered that the fire-aligned versions, Wreath of Fire and Flare Star, were somewhat less effective compared to their ice-aligned counterparts, Wreath of Ice and Frost Star. As a result, we boosted their power level.

Summoner

We increased the potency of Crimson Cyclone to compensate for the risk of rushing an opponent.

Additionally, reducing the cool-down duration of Necrotize will grant players faster access to the instant-cast spell Ruin IV. This adjustment aims to provide summoners with improved agility and strategic maneuverability, particularly during tactical withdrawals from the battlefront.

Red Mage

Currently, the Red Mage character is enjoying a high victory rate due to an abundance of skills that offer superior mobility, crowd management, and assistance to fellow players.

When these individual skills, especially boosts, are combined effectively, they lead to incredibly powerful knockouts and strong team assistance.

To ensure a fair balance in combat, we’ve scaled back the boosts gained from Displacement and Embolden, and reduced both the attack power and healing capabilities of Prefulgence.

Pictomancer

We reduced the cast time and cooldown timer for Creature Motif in order to improve playability.

Additionally, we shortened the recharge time for Living Muse, enabling players to utilize their advanced skills more frequently, thus enhancing the attacking potential of Pictomancers.

Astrologian

The previous update to astrologian added new movement actions and revamped arcana actions in order to improve playability.

As a result of higher numbers across the board, this job is now incredibly powerful.

To preserve the existing interactivity of an astrologer, we’ve fine-tuned areas that were excessively powerful within each category of actions.
