Final Fantasy 16 Releases Complete Edition on PS5

As a long-time fan of the Final Fantasy series, I must say that the release of the Complete Edition of Final Fantasy 16 on both PS5 and PC is a momentous occasion for me. The return to medieval fantasy, coupled with the innovative real-time combat system, has truly rekindled my love for this iconic franchise.

The full edition of “Final Fantasy 16” is now playable on PS5. Fans were taken aback as “Final Fantasy 16” reverted to a medieval fantasy setting, along with the introduction of a fresh battle system into the main series. In a departure from traditional gameplay, “FF16” has fully embraced real-time action, with Ryota Suzuki leading the combat design team. This allows players to delve deeper into the darker and more violent portrayal of the “Final Fantasy” universe that “FF16” presents.

After the discussions about the altered battle system in Final Fantasy 16 subsided, many found pleasure in it. However, despite generally favorable reviews, the game didn’t achieve Square Enix’s sales targets. Following a timed exclusivity agreement on the PlayStation 5, the game was also released for PC, providing more customization options and support for mods. These features could potentially make the game last longer than Square Enix initially anticipated.

The full version of “Final Fantasy 16” has just been released for PlayStation 5. This “Final Fantasy 16 Complete Edition” comprises the core game along with the additional content from “Echoes of the Fallen” and “The Rising Tide” DLC packs. Moreover, the standard version of “FF16” will be offered at a discounted price from now on. On the PlayStation Store, the base game is currently listed for $49.99, while the Complete Edition is priced according to this console generation’s typical rate of $69.99. It seems that these are the final expansions “Final Fantasy 16” will receive, as additional updates may not be forthcoming.

Final Fantasy 16 Complete Edition Contents

  • Final Fantasy 16 base game
  • Echoes of the Fallen DLC
  • The Rising Tide DLC

Initially, Square Enix didn’t intend to produce downloadable content for Final Fantasy 16. However, the releases of Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide were positively received by fans, enhancing the game’s storyline and further developing its innovative combat system with more Eikons. Following the launch of these DLCs, the development team diverted their attention towards the PC version of Final Fantasy 16, which was released on September 17.

With the launch of the Complete Edition of Final Fantasy 16 for PlayStation 5 and PC, gaming enthusiasts are speculating about the future of the Final Fantasy series. Given Square Enix’s ongoing approach to distribute their games across multiple platforms, it’s reasonable to anticipate a PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. However, as mainline titles have been leaning towards releasing once per console generation, it might be some time before we see the announcement of Final Fantasy 17.
