Final Fantasy 6 Remake Should be Led by Someone Else, Says FF7 Director

The director of Final Fantasy 7 Remake would prefer to let someone else direct a potential remake of Final Fantasy 6, offering his assistance as a supporting member of the team instead.

Recently, we’ve learned a lot about the third part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Developers say the game is nearly finished and consider this installment to be a complete title. Now, there’s also talk of remaking another classic: Final Fantasy 6, originally released in 1994.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Director Would Like to See a New Creator Come In

In a recent interview with GamerBraves (reported by GamesRadar+), Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, discussed the possibility of someone else directing a remake of Final Fantasy 6. Hamaguchi explained that Final Fantasy 6 had a big impact on him as a gamer, and that influence often shows up in his work. However, because the FF7 Remake followed a pre-determined story, they didn’t include any references to FF6.

Hamaguchi mentioned that many fans want a remake of Final Fantasy 6. However, after dedicating nearly a decade to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and nearing its completion, he’s questioning whether he should lead another remake project.

Hamaguchi explained he’d prefer to step back and let a new creator take the lead, offering his support and encouragement instead.

Here’s some gaming news: The iconic Buster Sword from Final Fantasy 7 Remake was nearly designed to look more realistic. Also, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is expected to take up almost 100GB of storage space on the new Switch 2 console.
