Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Breaks Franchise’s Single-Player Record on Steam

As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled to share that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has shattered records by achieving the highest ever concurrent player peak among all single-player titles in our beloved series, right here on Steam!

Eurogamer reports that as of SteamDB, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has surpassed 40,000 players, which is more than twice the number playing its prequel, Final Fantasy 7 Remake (peaking at approximately 14,000 players). In comparison, Final Fantasy 16’s peak player count remains below these numbers, ending at over 27,000. Interestingly, only Final Fantasy 14 boasts a larger player base, with 95,000 players.

feedback for Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Steam has predominantly been positive as well. A significant majority, about 77.4%, of the reviews express a favorable opinion, while around 22.6% are less positive. In summary, the PC version’s reviews can be described as generally positive.

It’s quite striking that despite being the second game in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy (FFVIIR), Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has actually attracted more concurrent players than its predecessor. The narrative unfolds as Cloud, Tifa, and their companions embark on a new adventure, this time exploring the planet on Chocobos, following their escape from Midgar. Their objective is to track down the fallen hero, Sephiroth; yet, his path won’t be an easy one for our heroes to traverse.
