According to game director Naoki Hamaguchi, the upcoming versions of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S will include 13 cheats designed to let players customize their experience. These cheats will range from making battles easier to giving players unlimited resources, offering various ways to alter the game.
Just weeks after Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade came to Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was announced for those same consoles. The Switch 2 version was revealed during the February 5 Nintendo Direct, and the Xbox version was announced right after. You can now pre-order Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for $50 on both Switch 2 and Xbox at many stores. If you pre-order the Switch 2 version, you’ll also get a special Zack Fair promo card from the Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy collaboration, while supplies last. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released on Switch 2 and Xbox on June 3.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is Bringing Back Streamlined Progression
Similar to how Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade simplified the game with Streamlined Progression, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will offer 13 new cheat options for players to customize their experience. Game director Naoki Hamaguchi showcased these cheats in a couple of short Twitter videos, highlighting how they can be combined. By accessing Streamlined Progression in the options menu, players can activate cheats like Constant Max Synergy, Always Full ATB Gauge, and Constant Max Damage to rapidly defeat enemies using Synergy Attacks. A tutorial in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demonstrated this, with Cloud and Sephiroth delivering a powerful combo that inflicted 9,999 damage per hit on a single target.
Hamaguchi announced that a new cheat in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, part of the Streamlined Progression update, will let players inflict maximum damage with each hit during mini-games. He showed this off in a video of Yuffie easily completing the Cactuar Crush challenge. With the “Max Damage: Minigames” cheat activated in the options, Yuffie’s attacks consistently dealt 9,999 damage per Cactuar. This will help players quickly achieve high scores in difficult trials. The Streamlined Progression update, including these cheats, will be available on the Switch 2 and Xbox versions of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and a patch will also bring them to the current PS5 and PC versions around the same time as the new ports are released.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Cheats Will Get Players Caught Up Before Part 3
New features in the game will help players consistently maintain resources like Gil and healing items. These improvements shouldn’t prevent most players from earning trophies and achievements in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. However, based on how similar features worked in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, using the Max Materia Levels option might make it harder to get the “A Materia World” achievement. Because these features are so powerful, it’s unclear how quickly players will be able to finish Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
With both Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth being lengthy games – each taking over 30 hours to finish – the new Streamlined Progression feature helps players quickly experience the main story. As fans eagerly await Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, it will be interesting to see how many players, both new and returning to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, use this feature to tackle the game’s toughest parts.
