Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Reveals Full PC Requirements

Summary

  • Square Enix updates Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC specs to require high-end graphics cards with 12-16GB VRAM for 4K.
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will utilize DLSS upscaling, ShaderModel 6.6 support, and DirectX 12 Ultimate on PC.

Just over two weeks before the release of “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” on PC, Square Enix unveiled an upgraded set of system requirements for the game – minimum, recommended, and ultra settings. In addition, they advised players of “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” to utilize a top-tier graphics card with between 12GB and 16GB of video memory when playing on a 4K display.

News arrived just as Square Enix was ready to debut Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC, almost a year following its PS5 premiere. In November, the PS5 version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth received an upgrade patch too, enabling the game to leverage Sony’s latest console’s enhanced capabilities through the PS5 Pro enhancement. Despite the PS5 Pro update and the upcoming PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Square Enix clarified that the title won’t be getting any DLC content similar to what Final Fantasy 7 Remake had with its Episode INTERmission expansion. Instead, they are dedicating their attention to developing Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 and encouraging fans to exercise a bit more patience for updates regarding it.

After unveiling the PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth at The Game Awards, Square Enix has slightly adjusted the system requirements. Initially suggested, a graphics card with a minimum of 12GB to 16GB of video memory was recommended for those using a 4K monitor. However, the company has since emphasized that this is just a recommendation and not a strict requirement.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will continue to necessitate 64-bit versions of Windows 10 or 11, 155 GB of storage space on an SSD, and at least 16GB of RAM. In terms of processors, a multi-core CPU such as the Ryzen 5 5600 or more potent models are recommended. For graphics cards, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth mandates an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or superior models, given that the game will leverage Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) to boost performance.

Beyond this, “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” demands GPUs capable of ShaderModel 6.6 or later, and operating systems with DirectX 12 Ultimate compatibility. In past interviews, game director Naoki Hamaguchi has suggested enthusiasts to explore the PC version of “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth,” as it boasts enhanced lighting, shaders, and textures that are presently exclusive to this platform. It’s yet unclear if the PS5 edition will receive the same lighting enhancements.

Despite Square Enix’s earlier declaration about enhancing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for Steam Deck, there has been no further news regarding this development. With January 23 rapidly approaching, eager fans have not much longer to wait before they can play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on their PCs.
