Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of *Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3*, believes the final game in the trilogy will be a hit with all players. While the first two *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* games have been popular, some changes to the original story have sparked debate, and fans are excited to see how the story concludes.
Originally released in 1997, *Final Fantasy 7* is widely regarded as one of the greatest games in the *Final Fantasy* series. Its popularity spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs, and a remake was announced about ten years ago. *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* came out in 2020, and the sequel, *Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth*, was released in 2024.
Naoki Hamaguchi Believes Final Fantasy 7 Part 3’s Ending Will Satisfy Both New and Old Fans
During an interview at Brazil Game Show 2025, Naoki Hamaguchi stated that the development team knows how they plan to conclude the *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* trilogy. The director assured fans that the ending will satisfy both longtime players of the original *FF7* and those new to the story through the remakes. Hamaguchi also expressed strong confidence in the upcoming game, predicting that *Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3* will be widely enjoyed. Because the remake has significantly altered the original *FF7*’s plot, fans are particularly eager to learn how the story will conclude in the final game.

I was really interested to hear Hamaguchi talk about why they went with a trilogy for the remake. He explained they *could* have just made one big game, but they really wanted to push the boundaries with new tech and tell the story properly across three parts. He even mentioned something they talked about with *Rebirth* – how player feedback will help make the final game even better. But, and this is important, they don’t want to completely change what they originally envisioned just to please fans. They want to stay true to their creative vision, which I totally get – it’s their story to tell, and we’ll get a fantastic experience because of it!

We don’t know exactly when the third and final game in the *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* trilogy will be released. Square Enix has a target release date internally, but they haven’t shared it with the public yet. Hopefully, development goes well, and fans won’t have to wait much longer to see how the story concludes.
