Last November, as a dedicated fan of the Final Fantasy series, I was thrilled to learn from Yoshinori Kitase, the mastermind behind the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, that he’d locked down the storyline for the third installment of this epic saga.

According to the developer’s latest comments, they feel certain that the fans will find it appealing, no matter what decision they make.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Will “Satisfy” Fans With Its Story

Discussing with Famitsu for the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC today, the developers addressed numerous inquiries about the game and the future direction of the franchise.

During the interview, Kitase was questioned about what tasks remained, even though the storyline of the third game had been concluded.

Kitase stated, “For the next installment, I aimed to create a story that would offer me a fulfilling experience beyond what the original provided, marking the conclusion of our remake project. This was essentially my assignment from Nomura (Tetsuya Nomura, Creative Director of FFVII Rebirth). By the end of the year, we had finally finalized the script for the third movie.

In his response, Kitase mentioned, “For myself, I found it incredibly fulfilling. I believe it will result in a comprehensive tale that will leave fans feeling just as satisfied.

Writing concluding chapters in games can be quite daring as they aim to please almost everyone with their endings. After all, old-school Final Fantasy fans are likely familiar with the ending of the original game, but it remains uncertain how much Kitase and the development team will depart from the original storyline.

The third installment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake does not have a confirmed release date yet, but we might see it as early as the year 2027.
