NateTheHate, a known source of gaming information, recently said on X (formerly Twitter) that he believes development of the Final Fantasy 9 Remake has been put on hold. He doesn’t know if Square Enix will ever resume work on the project, suggesting the remake is currently stalled and its future is uncertain.
Early this year, excitement built around a potential remake of Final Fantasy 9, sparked by a new website celebrating the game’s 25th anniversary. Square Enix added to the buzz by sharing a quote from the original game’s ending. Unfortunately, recent news suggests the remake may not happen after all.
