The popular role-playing game series known as “Final Fantasy” is widely recognized and often encountered by many. Originating in Japan, it gained significant momentum before “Final Fantasy 7” achieved global prominence thanks to a successful marketing blitz. It quickly became SquareSoft’s most successful intellectual property, producing one hit after another. However, the disappointing box office performance of “Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within” led to a merger with Enix, an event that signaled a new direction for “Final Fantasy”.
As a devoted fan, I must admit that the “Final Fantasy” franchise has gone through a slight identity shift following this particular event. Nevertheless, it doesn’t take long for these games to garner massive attention as gamers eagerly await what the beloved JRPG series has in store. The majority of these titles revolve around grand journeys filled with diverse party members, often positioning the protagonist as the team captain. Occasionally, these characters fall short of their leadership role, but others rise to the occasion, leading their teams valiantly and saving the world with their inspiring leadership throughout the course of each game.
5. Ace
The Most Mature And Capable Member Of Class Zero
In Class Zero, we have a group of skilled people, each offering something distinct. Yet, if you were to select one character to be our main hero, Ace would likely fit the bill quite well. He is primarily responsible for recounting the major occurrences in the story and enjoys the most trust from their professor.
It’s clear why he stands out in this situation – Ace’s level-headed approach allows him to carefully consider his actions and motivate his peers to accomplish daring feats. Although his leadership abilities might not be explicitly showcased due to the narrative, it doesn’t diminish Ace’s qualities as a reliable person others can trust.
4. Cloud Strife
Has An Addled Mind But Eventually Wills The Party To Mosey After Recovering
One of the pivotal games in the Final Fantasy series is Final Fantasy 7, marking a significant turning point for SquareSoft as Japanese Role-Playing Games (JRPGs) gained immense popularity on the PlayStation 1. The journey of Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER, leading his team to thwart Sephiroth is an engaging experience. Yet, as the story unfolds, doubts about Cloud’s leadership surface, as it becomes evident that there are unsettling mysteries lurking within his mind.
Following his plunge into the Lifestream, his mind undergoes a profound change, making him unsuitable to guide the group initially. Yet, another submersion into the planet’s core enlightened Tifa, causing Cloud to acknowledge his shortcomings and appreciate Zack’s role in his life. After she assists him in recovery, he transforms back into a dependable leader for the party, culminating in a heartwarming scene where he is asked to inspire the group. This results in the memorable line “let’s mosey,” solidifying Cloud as an influential leader, despite the missteps he took, many of which were due to severe Mako poisoning he had endured.
3. Squall Leonhart
Overcomes His Self-Doubt To Become A Reliable Leader And Express His Love For Rinoa
Labeling Squall as an unappealing protagonist might be simple due to his frequent negative interactions with his companions, and his tendency to criticize or disregard them. This behavior, however, is rooted in Squall’s self-doubt, stemming from his reluctance to accept the role of a leader, responsible for more than just his own life. Interestingly, despite this, his friends remain steadfast and unwavering, leading to an inspiring moment when Balamb Garden is under attack by Galbadia.
In response to seeing everyone’s faith in him, Squall confidently takes charge, giving commands and aiding the school during this vicious attack. This instance erases any lingering uncertainties within him, enabling him to express feelings towards Rinoa before launching a counterattack across space and time itself, determined to prevent Ultimecia’s wicked scheme from materializing.
2. Cecil Harvey
After Winning Against His Demons, He Becomes A Righteous And Selfless Paladin
It wasn’t until after he became a Paladin that Cecil proved himself as a capable leader, having previously struggled with self-doubt during his days as a Dark Knight. He was torn between loyalty and disapproval towards the man he perceived as his father, who issued harsh commands. After numerous internal conflicts, Cecil voiced his concerns to his subordinates and eventually confronted the King of Baron following a victorious mission to obtain the Water Crystal.
Originally, he was removed from his role as the Red Barons’ commander and embarked on a journey to Mysidia, unknowingly causing an explosion in the town. As time went by, he understood that his course had to alter, and he conquered the trials at Mount Ordeals, transforming into a noble Paladin. Eventually, the confusion dissipated from his mind, allowing Cecil to take charge confidently, leading his team valiantly in their ultimate battle against Zemus to save the world.
1. Clive Rosfield
Takes On The Mantle Of Cid And Helps The Rebellion Succeed
Clive Rosfield has experienced more than his share of hardships in life, including being shunned by his mother and harboring guilt over the death of his younger brother following a confrontation with Garuda. Yet, as events unfold and Cid falls to Typhon’s assault, Clive rises to the occasion and assumes the role previously held by Cid.
In essence, he stands as the head of the rebellion, assisting them in whatever way possible and gradually becoming a dependable leader that all can rely upon. His altruistic character propels him to engage in a climactic battle against Ultima with the aim of eradicating magic from the world, regardless of the potential sacrifice of his own life.
