It’s a common joke that people who write about video games aren’t actually very good at playing them. Many players blame connection issues, or ‘lag,’ for their losses instead of admitting their own skills need work. But now, a new game called ‘Final Sentence’ is coming out that will require journalists to *actually* be skilled players, which is a fun twist!
Final Sentence is a unique battle royale where up to 100 players compete. Instead of typical weapons, you’ll use typewriters and revolvers with only one bullet each. The catch? You have to type quickly and accurately, because a single mistake could be fatal. It’s a fight for survival where your typing skills are your only defense.
In Final Sentence, a Single Tpyo Could Mean Death
Final Sentence is planned to come out on Steam in the fourth quarter of 2025, but a specific release date hadn’t been set until recently. The game was first announced several months ago by its sole developer, Button Mash, who also shared the story behind its creation.
I’ve always been a slow typist, so I started looking for fun ways to get better. That’s how I came up with the idea for Final Sentence.
Final Sentence throws you into a tense situation: you wake up in a warehouse filled with people at typewriters. A ticking clock adds to the pressure, and a masked gunman stands behind each person, their revolver loaded with only one bullet. Every error you make could be your last.
While you’re typing, up to 99 other players are doing the same, and gunfire rings out as a single error leads to their gruesome defeat.
It’s a dangerous gamble where any error, whether your first or last, could be fatal.
It’s strange, but the instructions you need to enter in Final Sentence seem to be based on famous lines from popular movies and pop culture, like ‘Press F to pay respects’ and ‘Hide yo kids, hide yo wife’.
Button Mash points out that Final Sentence isn’t just another battle royale game – it uses a ranking system to help you see how well you’re doing and pinpoint areas for improvement, making it surprisingly useful for developing real skills.
It also runs on an utter potato, which is great news for PC gamers without the best equipment.
Finally, a game has come out that journalists can genuinely enjoy and review honestly, without feeling pressure to feign enthusiasm for other titles.
Let me know if Final Sentence looks like your kind of game over on the TopMob Discord server.
