Find All 16 Shadowbanish Bottles in Oblivion Remastered

In The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, not every side quest can be completed swiftly; some may require extensive exploration of the game’s expansive map to locate necessary items, which could potentially take longer if the player lacks prior knowledge. “A Venerable Vintage” is an example of such lengthy side quests. Even with knowledge of where the required items are located, collecting them all will still demand some time. However, this prolonged adventure can prove intriguing for players who appreciate delving deeper into the game’s world and venturing inside dungeons. Here’s what you need to know about completing it.

How To Start A Venerable Vintage

Adventurers may embark on their journey at the Wawanet Inn, positioned west of the Imperial City. Upon entering the inn, engage in conversation with Nerussa, its proprietor. She will inform you about a unique wine called Shadowbanish, which is only discovered in remote locations.

Although Nerussa doesn’t give many hints, these seldom-found locations are Forts that dot the map. In all, there are 8 Forts with a Shadowbanish drop, specifically. The mission necessitates only six Shadowbanish bottles, and each fort holds two bottles. Therefore, players need to visit at least three forts to fulfill the requirement, but delivering additional bottles to Nerussa will lead to more rewards in the end.

Every Shadowbanish Location

Fort Carmala

Heading straight south from Chorrol city, Fort Carmala will be on your route. Although the fort layout isn’t overly complex, the wooden chest concealing Shadowbanish Wine can prove challenging to locate.

On the map above, once you’ve entered the fort, stick to the red-marked trail. Keep going straight until an iron gate appears in front of you. Before you reach that gate, take a right and venture into the cave. Follow this path until you spot a single door. Open it and eliminate the enemy within. Near the large coffin at the room’s far end, there’s a wooden chest hidden on the darker part of the wall. It can be tricky to see from afar, but looting it will reward you with two Shadowbanish bottles.

Fort Dirich

Heading southwest from Fort Carmala will guide the player towards Fort Dirich, which is ideal for raiding and acquiring wine bottles without any hassle. Upon entering the fort, turn left and follow the path through a pair of large doors followed by a single door. This route will take you to a room resembling a shrine with a coffin in the center. The wooden chest containing two bottles of Shadowbanish wine can be found hidden behind the coffin against the wall.

Fort Vlastarus

From Skingrad, head towards the east and cross the main road until you spot the signpost for Fort Vlastarus. Just like Dirich, this fort is quite straightforward to maneuver. Once inside, keep going straight until you reach a central hub area with a small iron gate in the right corner. Pass through that gate and continue forward. When you notice three charred bodies hanging from the ceiling, descend and eliminate the enemies within the room.

Walk along the path until you find yourself in another room. Inside this room, there’s a wooden chest situated beside a central pillar. Retrieve the Shadowbanish wine hidden within that chest.

Fort Magia

The fort lies to the east of the Imperial City, beyond the river, and it’s quite challenging to maneuver in Oblivion Remastered. Players often find themselves disoriented within its walls due to the presence of three distinct levels inside the structure. Upon entering the fort, follow the yellow-marked path indicated on your initial map until you reach a cul-de-sac filled with water. Swim under the water since there’s an accessible passage beneath it that leads to a broad door.

Passing through the opened door guides the player towards the Memorial zone. To ensure survival, swim quickly after opening the door and continue swimming until you can surface without running out of breath. Remember, aquatic creatures may attack you during your journey. The path eventually leads to a vast pool near a sanctuary. Climb the stairs to access the shrine, then turn right by 90 degrees to locate another pool. In this pool, there are five caves submerged beneath the water’s surface. To proceed correctly, swim through the cave located far on the right side. Keep swimming until you reach a staircase with a single door atop it, which leads to the Garrison area. If navigating the Memorial area becomes challenging, utilize the provided red map for guidance.

In simple terms, the Garrison region is easy to navigate. Stick to the blue trail shown on the map until you come across the marked spot. That’s where you’ll discover a wooden box with two Shadowbanish potions hidden inside. Remember, the Garrison area can be risky because a ghost is protecting the wooden chest.

Fort Scinia

Make your way to the city of Cheydinhal first, then proceed southeast. The fort you’ll come across is two-tiered, but locating the Shadowbanish wine is straightforward. Upon entering the fort, advance straight ahead. Once you reach a wall, turn left and follow the path that leads you to the double doors of the Hall of Legends.

Upon re-entering the Hall of Legends, proceed straight ahead. At the termination of this pathway lies a wooden chest, hidden within, are the Shadowbanish vials. This particular fort is inhabited by both Marauders and Skeletons, which increases its peril level compared to the others.

Fort Aurus

Situated northeast of Bravil, past the river lies Fort Aurus – an approachable dungeon. As you delve within, stick to the path until you encounter a hall adorned with a statue. Beyond the statue, take a right at the terminus. Continue straight again until you notice a solitary door. Open the door and swiftly turn left to find a wooden chest nestled in the corner. Ransack the chest to collect the wine bottles from this fort, then either depart the vicinity or continue exploring for additional loot.

Fort Irony

Heading towards the southeast from Bravil, gamers can stumble upon Fort Irony close to the bay. This fort is also quite speedy to loot. Delve into the stronghold and continue along the path until you encounter a wall with paths branching off to the left and right. The path to the left typically leads to a pair of doors. Enter the space and scan around the pillar to find a wooden chest containing two Shadowbanish potions within it.

Fort Grief (Not Recommended)

As a gaming enthusiast, I can tell you that if you were to imagine a connection between Fort Aurus and Fort Irony, there lies a small, isolated outpost known as Fort Grief in between them. It’s not hard to locate, but let me warn you, gaining access is another story altogether! The entrance to this fort is secured, requiring the player to accomplish an additional mission before they can unlock the gates and venture inside. That’s why it’s generally advised to bypass Fort Grief when searching for Shadowbanish bottles.

If you’re dead set on finding all the bottles, start by taking up the “Caught in the Hunt” side quest. You can pick it up by discussing rumors with the residents of Bravil until someone brings up Aleron Loche being missing. While completing the quest isn’t necessary to obtain the Shadowbanish bottles, you’ll definitely need a good stockpile of Lockpicks if you aren’t skilled at the mini-game.

Proceed with the mission “Caught in the Hunt” until you reach Fort Grief. Instead of finding the wooden chest within the fort, it is located on the upper level. To get there, climb the stairs leading to the roof of the fort. You’ll spot the wooden chest at a distant platform up there, so be prepared for a long jump. However, the chest is securely locked with a Very Hard lock. Inside the chest, you’ll find only two bottles of Shadowbanish wine, which are the last remaining ones.

Rewards Of A Venerable Vintage

Once you’ve amassed six or more bottles of Shadowbanish, make your way back to the Wawanet Inn. There, present them to Nerussa. For the initial six wine bottles you deliver, she will reward you with a total of 1,000 Gold coins, completing the quest. Each additional bottle of Shadowbanish Wine will earn you an extra 100 Gold coins from Nerussa.

You’ll find a total of 16 Shadowbanish bottles scattered across the given locations. This means you’ll receive a grand total of 2,000 Gold coins as your reward.
