Season three of Fire Force signals a serious shift in tone, even with some characters still providing comedic relief. While earlier arcs had important conflicts – like exploring the Tabernacle and facing the dangers of the Netherworld – nothing compares to the current threat of a new Great Cataclysm. The series has reached this point as the Evangelist’s plan for total destruction begins to unfold.

Typical climaxes in action-packed anime often feature a shifting battle where each side unveils powerful new abilities. Currently, though, the White-Clad cult has the upper hand. Giovanni managed to unlock the Great Cataclysm using a solution derived from pi, and now the cult has received reinforcements. As Haumea desperately seeks an end to her suffering, a strange new world is forming, and a terrifying group of doppelgangers has arrived to challenge the heroes. Because of this, fans of Fire Force are especially keen to know what happens next and where they can continue following the story.

Hope and Despair Are the Twin Currencies of the New World

One of the most important storylines in Fire Force right now is how the Great Cataclysm fundamentally altered the rules of the world. The anime has already played with what’s real by showing Shinra photos of the old Earth, and even connected the story to another anime with the arrival of the Soul Eater moon. Things are definitely strange, but it’s not just for show – it’s a key part of the story. With the second Great Cataclysm happening, the way battles are fought might change completely.

  • The White-Clad cult has observed that widespread despair has been heavily impacting everyone’s energy, and Haumea, who feels all negative emotions, is really suffering. Now, in this new place, that despair is becoming real – manifesting as visible images, which has shocked and worried the heroes. It seems like people’s thoughts and reality are starting to mix, which will definitely make the coming fights more interesting. However, it’s not all bad news, as hope could also be a powerful force in determining the outcome. The fire soldiers of Company 8, led by Captain Akitaru Obi, are uniting, and their strength will be something to watch as the story continues.

Doppelgangers Will Be the Main Threat in Episode 20

Company 8 easily handled Ritsu’s zombie army, and Arthur defeated Giovanni. Now, Sho Kusakabe is fighting alongside his brother and Arrow. This creates an opening for new enemies, and Episode 19 delivered just that. To everyone’s surprise, White-Clad cultists opened a portal, bringing in a new wave of doppelgangers, led by a copy of Shinmon Benimaru, the commander of Company 7.

As a huge Fire Force fan, I was already blown away by Benimaru’s power, even though he doesn’t fight all the time. But seeing his doppelganger show up? That’s terrifying! This isn’t just another training session like we saw in Asakusa – Benimaru’s incredible strength is actually being used against Company 8. And it’s not just him! I spotted doppelgangers of Kurono and Joker lurking in the background, plus a few others, so this whole team is shaping up to be the biggest threat our heroes have faced yet. Charon was a serious challenge, but this is on a whole different level. I have a feeling Episode 20 is going to be an absolutely unforgettable battle!

I’m so excited for the next episode of Fire Force! Season 3, Episode 20, is called “Where Hope is,” and it’s coming out in Japan on February 28th. But the best part? Thanks to the simulcast, we in other parts of the world get to watch it a day early, on February 27th! It’s a little weird that it’ll technically be showing up on two different dates depending on where you are, but I’m not complaining – more Fire Force sooner is always a good thing!
