The third season of “Fire Force” has been building towards a significant confrontation between two forces. As anticipation mounts, fans have been eagerly awaiting each new episode. This week’s release is particularly welcome since the previous episode ended on a nerve-wracking cliffhanger. A surprising partnership has emerged, and events are now unfolding. With Company 8 finally taking action, will their captain manage to elude the impending peril? As time runs out, it’s tough for “Fire Force” enthusiasts not to fret about their team’s commander and mentor.
In last week’s episode, Shinra learned through an Adolla Link that Obi, wrongfully detained, was destined to become an infernal due to a false charge. The team decided to risk being labeled traitors to save him, leading Licht to reveal his secret ally, Joker. Together, they guided the team to their hidden base, preparing for their mission to free their captain. Simultaneously, Obi in prison was visited by an unknown White-Clad named Gold, who presented an infernal insect with what seemed to be Akitaru’s name on it. With Company 1 and its commander, Leonard Burns, now aligned with the Evangelist, Company 8 will undoubtedly face challenging circumstances once they reach the scene.
What Happened in Episode 2?
- Captain Obi is being held hostage by the White-Clad.
- They plan to turn him infernal.
- Joker has teamed up with Company 8 to rescue Obi.
- Leonard Burns is entirely faithful to the Evangelist.
An Inevitable Clash With the White Lion
A Radical New Form of Worship

Following a quick review, Shinra and Obi arrive to discover Burns blocking their path, accompanied by a White-Clad. Captain Burns informs the duo that Obi will be recompensed for his dedication to Sol by being set ablaze once more. Upon questioning Burns’ actions, he explains that though he dedicated his life to the divine, experiences through the Adolla Link caused him to question his faith. Through the Evangelist, he perceived a god that he could not disbelieve. Shinra attempts to reason with him, warning that the White-Clad aim to bring about a second Great Cataclysm. Burns dismisses this concern, stating that renewal follows destruction.
When prompted about endangering human lives, Leonard defends his actions as requiring sacrifice. He gestures for Obi, who was imprisoned beneath them, to be raised up. Watching the captain treat life so carelessly infuriates Shinra, causing him to assault Burns, who shows no reaction before repelling the attacker forcefully. Joker steps in next, launching an immediate counter-attack along with Shinra. However, Burns swiftly outmaneuvers them using a Voltage Nova technique. After regaining his composure, Joker alerts Shinra that Burn’s flames will intensify as the battle prolongs. Fearing Leonard’s power growing even more menacing, Shinra’s concern is evident. Kusakabe struggles to comprehend how a man who appeared so paternal could choose such a destructive course of action.
All the Cogs Are in Motion
Switching to a first-person perspective: I find myself observing Haumea and Charon in their courtyard, as they prepare for an impending event. Earlier, I had witnessed a conversation between Haumea and Burns, where Burns had foretold the arrival of the 8th, and expressed his intention to stand firm during the encounter. He pleaded for space amidst conflict, a request Haumea accommodated without question.
As signs of battle unfolded, I saw Haumea and Charon descend below. Haumea appeared weary, dismissing Charon’s concern with a touch of agitation.
Outside, Karim Flam and Huo Yan Li are found facing away from each other, engaged in a conversation about their captain’s present motivations. Flam is visibly upset, likening the Evangelist’s objectives to those of a cult. On the other hand, Huo Yan offers understanding, ascribing Burn’s devotion to the experiences he had during his Adolla Link. However, Karim remains skeptical.
Don’t hold back!
We’re going out there to raze the Fuchu Penitentiary to the ground!
Demolish the prison!
-Takehisa Hinawa
The remainder of Company 8 is on their way to Fuchu, continuing their journey through the Nether. Hinawa is eager and justifies his actions as a rebellious spirit due to his lowered rank. He repeatedly emphasizes that their mission is to destroy the prison, reducing it entirely to rubble. The girls appear uneasy about Hinawa’s demeanor, but he motivates them with the battle cry of “Bring down the prison!
The Plot Thickens Even Further
Dubious Doppelgängers

Gold and two other individuals dressed in white observe the following fight from a window, discussing Burns and his relevance to their strategies. She shares with the group that Haumea aims to connect the captain to a duplicate. Their objective within this conflict is to halt the remaining members of the 8th, who are likely on their way. When the masked individuals in white question about Haumea’s location, Gold reveals that she’s currently in the Nether sanctum, accumulating the collective unconsciousness.
Inside the sacred space, Haumea is crying out in pain as Charon stands by, clearly troubled. Yona arrives in a twisted, strange form. He watches Haumea’s plight, remarking offhandedly about how her gatherings seem to be thriving. Yona informs Charon that they are now in the era of solving the mystery of pi. The camera slowly moves from a tormented Haumea to a sun, and then to the grinning moon from the first episode.
At Company 5, Conehead is on the hunt for Hibana, who has been sequestered in the research lab. She’s meticulously examining all the data collected so far, trying to fit the puzzle pieces together. It appears that a tragic incident at her childhood convent could be linked to some form of experimental work. Hibana is convinced that the fire that day was deliberately set, and doubles might have played a role in it. Needless to say, she’s not thrilled about this revelation.
Launching a Counterattack
Gold, accompanied by her two White-Clad allies, venture out to confront the 8th party, anticipating they will strike while Burns is preoccupied with Shinra and Joker. Before they can fully strategize, Hinawa bursts through a wall along with his subordinates. He assigns tasks, placing Vulcan and Licht on standby, while Arthur takes the lead. However, it seems Boyle is absent. In his absence, Tamaki assumes the point position. Kotatsu rushes forward with Hinawa and Maki offering support. Gold counters their assault, maintaining vigilance. Having thought ahead, Hinawa employs Obi’s fire shield to deflect the returned gunfire. Gold appears unfazed by this defense.
I’m watching as Shinra and Joker engage in a fierce battle with Burns on the rooftop. It seems the Captain has advanced to stage two, amplifying his powers even further, causing Joker to fret over their ability to keep up with his enhanced strength. Licht and Maki are growing wary of Gold’s right arm, still trying to decipher how her abilities operate. Meanwhile, Vulcan works alongside the mysterious figure known as The Former, both focused on finding a solution for the way ahead. Gold exudes confidence in her victory, but the members of 8th stand resolute, equally certain that they will emerge victorious.
Things Finally Start Heating Up
This week’s episode was packed with fresh details, and it appears that several events leading up to this confrontation were interconnected from the start. It seems doppelgangers will play a significant role in future events, and the possibility of Burns being involved is quite chilling. Yona’s new form also raises some unresolved questions. Company 8 is gearing up for a fierce battle if they aim to rescue their captain. Will Arthur show up, or will it be left to Tamaki to hold the line against Gold? Don’t forget that Shinra and Joker are in grave danger as they face off against Captain Burns. It seems like Fire Force fans have a busy week ahead, as the next episode promises to be intense!
