Were you impressed by last week’s digital event from Sony, known as State of Play? Although opinions may have varied, it appeared to be an occasion that PlayStation enthusiasts had been anticipating for quite some time. The intrigue was high enough that the show managed to set new viewership records.
For the very first time, a State of Play broadcast simultaneously attracted more than two million viewers on the various channels where it was being streamed.
The PlayStation State February 2025 State of Play Established Multiple Viewer Records

In a nutshell, Stream Charts accumulated the data and highlighted other remarkable figures as well. The 1.96 million total viewing hours for the 40-minute event broke yet another record, with an average of approximately 1.8 million viewers tuning in at any given moment.
The exact numbers from the show are as follows:
- 1,955,586 Hours watched
- 2,182,165 Peak viewers
- 1,805,157 Average viewers
- 1,123 channels streamed
As a dedicated viewer, I joined countless fellow enthusiasts worldwide who tuned in to witness the spectacle that was State of Play. For the very first time, an unprecedented 1,000 channels broadcast this event, with the majority of viewing hours taking place on YouTube Live. Still, there were some who chose Twitch as their platform of choice to catch the action.
Among all channels broadcasting the event, it’s not surprising that the official PlayStation YouTube channel stood out as the most viewed (due to its popularity). For the latest State of Play, Sony provided three live streams: one in English, another in Japanese, and a third featuring English subtitles.
At the event, the most exciting unveiling was Housemarque’s upcoming project called “Saros.” While we didn’t get to see any gameplay, there was a trailer that offered a glimpse into the project and confirmed that actor Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass) will star as the main character.
The massive attendance at the recent State of Play event clearly demonstrates the strong desire for fresh games on the PS5. Yet, it also generated several queries regarding other in-house projects, such as Marvel’s Wolverine, Ghost of Tsushima sequel, that we anticipated would be featured but were not.
Here is a quick recap of the State of Play on February 12, in case you missed it live.
