The first trailer for the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie is now available, just before the film hits theaters later this month.
A new trailer for the movie was revealed during a Nintendo Direct presentation, giving fans their first glimpse of the plot, which involves Mario and his friends going to space. The trailer also officially introduced two characters not featured in the original game: Bowser Jr. and Rosalina.
Bowser Jr.’s inclusion in the new game was revealed recently through a leak – a box of Pillsbury cookies featured on a grocery store website. Yoshi was also pictured on the box, but Nintendo seems to be holding off on officially showing him in trailers for now.
Okay, so the Super Mario Bros. Movie just got even more exciting! They announced two more actors joining the cast. Brie Larson – you probably know her as Captain Marvel – is going to voice Rosalina, which is awesome. And get this, Benny Safdi, who’s usually behind the camera directing stuff like Uncut Gems, is playing Bowser Jr.! Apparently, he’s even been in movies before, like playing Frank Manatee in Happy Gilmore 2 – who knew?! I’m seriously hyped to hear what they both bring to their roles.
