Hollow Knight: Silksong is known for being challenging, but it also gives players ways to overcome those difficulties. One helpful item you can find early in the game boosts Hornet’s attack strength and adds a burning effect to every hit. This is a fantastic way to gain an advantage in fights, and this guide will show you how to get it easily.
How to Get Flintslate in Silksong (Location)
In *Silksong*, players can find the Flintslate tool by unlocking one of the doors in the Deep Docks. Unlike some other locked doors, this one doesn’t require a puzzle or switch – you just need a Simple Key to open it.
You can buy a Simple Key from Pebb, a merchant found in the Bone Marrow. It costs 500 Rosary Beads, which are easy to collect early in *Silksong*. Once you have enough beads, buy the Simple Key from Pebb and then go to the Deep Docks.

Go to the location shown on the map in the Deep Docks. You’ll find a large cave with a locked door on the lower right side. Use a Simple Key to unlock it. Be ready for a fight, as the door leads to a chamber full of enemies.
Once you’ve unlocked the door and entered the chamber, follow the path until you reach the area with the chained platforms. You’ll encounter many enemies here – you can choose to fight them or run past. Either way, continue to the right to reach the next area.
The next room looks very similar to the last one. Head towards the area with the chained platforms and carefully climb to the top. Be prepared to fight flying enemies along the way – defeating them will make your climb much easier.
After you reach the top, jump up and enter the top-left path of the area.
Continue along this path until you see an item on a table – that’s how you obtain the Flintslate in *Silksong*. Once you have it, place it on a bench to begin using it. The Flintslate comes with three charges, and when activated, it adds fire damage to Hornet’s attacks.
Activating this ability triggers a neat animation, and it’s more than just for looks! While active, hitting enemies with the needle will cause burn damage. The burn doesn’t last long, though, so it’s best to use this ability right before you attack to make the most of each charge in *Silksong*.
