Flowerstone Gavel Build Guide In Shadow of the Erdtree

As a seasoned Elden Ring player with countless hours under my belt, I’ve come to appreciate the intricacies of weapon builds that cater to various playstyles. Having experimented with different weapons and strategies, I can confidently say that the Flowerstone Gavel is a hidden gem.

The “Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree” DLC expansion has significantly enhanced the use of faith and arcane in the game, introducing a rich assortment of new incantations, dragon cult/communion spells, and potent weapons specifically designed for these build types.

One of these weapons is the Dragoncommunion Flowseal, which possesses a dominant magical scaling property and boasts an extremely mighty Ash of War ability named Flower Dragonbolt. Players can acquire this weapon by finishing the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion quest. The investment of time and effort is more than compensated for by its usefulness and strength.

Optimal Stat Distribution for Flowerstone Gavel in SOTE

The Flowerstone Gavel is a Hammer that deals Pierce damage and primarily scales with Strength and Arcane. The physical aspect of the weapon mostly depends on the strength stat, while the ash of war is almost entirely dependent on the arcane side of things. It also has a dexterity scaling, but it has negligible effect on the overall damage, so it can be safely ignored.

In plain language: The ordinary strikes of this weapon are unremarkable. However, Flower Dragonbolt, its unique skill, stands out as one of the most effective in the game. It’s capable of dealing an extremely high level of damage with careful usage. It costs 18 FP to activate and can be strengthened by charging for greater damage and a more potent debuff.

As a seasoned mage with years of experience under my belt, I can tell you that there’s nothing quite as satisfying as unleashing the full force of my arcane powers on an enemy. The way I see it, every point I invest in my Arcane stat is a step closer to mastering the art of manipulating the very essence of lightning.

If you find yourself struggling to attack Godfrey without taking damage in return, consider exchanging the Godfrey Icon for an alternative one. This change will improve your management of the FP (Fuel Point) pool during battles with bosses, reducing the need to frequently use the Flask of Cerulean Tears.

  • Bloodsucking Cracked Tear

For this build, the player will primarily stay behind and let their summon take most of the incoming damage. An effective method to enhance damage output without much effort is by utilizing the Bloodsucking Cracked Tear. Although it involves sacrificing some HP, this downside can be effectively managed through timely use of a Flask. Keep in mind that while this tear is beneficial, it’s not mandatory for the build and can be replaced with any preferred crystal tear.

The Death Knight Set gives the player a decent 8% buff when using Dragon Cult incantations so it’s the best armor for this build. If you’re not planning on using it, feel free to swap it with any armor of your choice. The Gravel Stone Seal also buffs the damage of Dragon Cult incantations by 15% as well, giving them a collective 23% buff from equipment alone. Combine that with the lightning damage negation debuff of the ash of war, and you’ve got a damage-dealing darling on your hands.

Gameplay with the Flowerstone Gavel in SOTE

The Flowerstone Gavel sets it apart from other weapons primarily through your choice of spells. Lightning spells work best with this weapon. A significant number of lightning spells in the game fall under the Dragon Cult incantation family, so using the Gravel Stone Seal and Death Knight Set is a logical choice. Some top-notch lightning spells are as follows:

Despite using only your weapon, this approach can still be effective. Its Ash of War deals surprising damage and can handle smaller foes without requiring any charging. Moreover, its lightning affinity adds to your advantage even when you’re not employing lightning spells specifically. However, keep in mind that you won’t gain the bonus damage from the Death Knight Armor and Gravel Stone Seal if you eschew Dragon Cult incantations.

You can also use the Bolt of Gransax for its ash of war, but that would require a high investment in both dexterity and endurance, though you won’t have to invest in faith. Ultimately, the choice is up to the player. Using the Ancient Dragons’ Lightning Strike after a few buffs, and the Flower Dragonbolt debuff can instantly delete enemies, but it’s just as fun to steadily whittle down the boss’ health bar over time using nothing but the weapon skill. There is beauty in simplicity, after all.

In a standard boss battle, the player can call upon an spirit ash of their preference. An enhanced minion is sufficient as the player has enough power to defeat the boss alone. The summon serves only to draw the boss’s attention. After getting a safe distance and ensuring the boss isn’t targeting you, empower your weapon and unleash a barrage of lightning upon your adversary. Once weakened, feel free to switch to your preferred lightning magic. Massive bosses are vulnerable to Ancient Dragons’ Lightning Strike.
