Fntastic’s ‘Honest New Game’ Discovered To Be An Asset Flip by Dataminers

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that I’ve seen it all – from game-changing masterpieces to disappointing duds. The latest revelations about Fntastic’s Escape Factory have left me utterly flabbergasted and rolling on the floor in fits of laughter. It seems like history is repeating itself, but this time with a dash of farce!

Approximately one day ago, Fntastic unveiled their resurgence into video game development with a ‘2.0’ rename and the introduction of a new title called Escape Factory. Previously, this enigmatic developer had been involved in an underhanded and misleading incident when they released The Day Before last year. This seemingly promising game turned out to be a deception as it was taken offline shortly after its release, leaving many players bewildered and demanding refunds.

In response to their comeback, the team at Fntastic launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance the creation of fresh games and revive the studio. This move has been met with about as much enthusiasm as a cold drink on a hot day, and as the company tries to distance itself from its critics, data miners have unveiled surprising (yet anticipated) secrets.

Round 2

On social media platforms, researchers delved into the workings of Escape Factory, a free-to-play game created by Fntastic’s ‘2.0’. Notably, a user known as ‘Occular Malice’ discovered that the networking, lobby, and matchmaking systems within the game appear to be based on ‘Unity demo code’, which is often employed by individuals learning how to develop games.

In other parts, a large portion of the game’s structure consists of resources directly acquired from the Unity store, with numerous items being freely accessible for utilization.

Besides the existing issues, it’s troubling to note that Fntastic has been deleting discussions on the Steam forum concerning this ‘misrepresentation’. Moreover, they have been proactively silencing individuals on social media who express negative or critical opinions about the game and its rebranding.

18 hours ago, we shared the news about Fntastic’s effort to regain popularity, and at that time, their Kickstarter campaign had only managed to gather £154 out of a target of £11,646. Now, the campaign stands at £370 with 23 supporters. To put it candidly, those choosing to fund this project should be aware that they may bear responsibility if, as seems likely, the campaign ultimately fails.

Regardless of their assertions about integrity, openness, and proficiency, it’s highly unlikely that gamers will believe in Fntastic once more. Their attempts at a return are nothing short of amusing.
