Foamstars is Going Free-To-Play

As someone who’s been drenched in ink for years during Splatoon sessions, the news of Foamstars going free-to-play is a game-changer! The free-to-play version of Foamstars, which can be considered as PlayStation’s counterpart to Splatoon but featuring foam, was officially announced by Square Enix and Sony on Tuesday.

Starting October 4, the creators have revealed that the game will shift to being playable for free, with optional in-game purchases. This change comes only eight months after its debut on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 systems.

If you’re among the folks who currently possess Foamstars or plan to purchase it prior to its price adjustment, Square Enix has announced a special reward called “Legacy Gift”. This gift includes the following items:

12 exclusive color-variant Bubble Beastie skins
1 exclusive Slide Board design
1 title: “Legacy”

In summary, since the game has transitioned to a free-to-play model, gamers will no longer require a PlayStation Plus membership to participate in online gaming.

“Your continued support of Foamstars would be greatly appreciated,” Square Enix said.
