Summary
- New Pokemon Tool cards Focus Sash and Leftovers may be coming to Pokemon TCG Pocket based on a fan theory.
- The theory is supported by a Chimchar backdrop in the game shop, hinting at future expansions.
- These cards could change gameplay strategy, with Leftovers potentially exacerbating stall tactics.
In an unofficial hint, it seems that the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket could potentially introduce a few Tool cards from its development team, destined for the mobile card battler. Although the creators of Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket have yet to confirm this, there’s a buzzing speculation among fans that Focus Sash and Leftovers will appear in the game soon.
Approximately a week and a half ago, over 150 fresh cards were incorporated into the game through the Space-Time Smackdown expansion of Pokemon TCG Pocket. This expansion was released between January 29th and 30th, depending on the time zone. Now, two new booster packs have been introduced, featuring Palkia and Dialga as the main characters. The expansion primarily concentrates on Generation 4 Pokemon, while also introducing some entirely novel mechanisms to the game.
Among these mechanics is a feature within the Pokemon TCG Pocket called Pokemon Tools, which are trainer cards that can be affixed to Pokemon in the active or bench spot, offering unique advantages such as increased HP or reduced damage for opponents attacking the equipped Pokemon. Currently, only Lum Berry, Giant Cape, and Rocky Helm have been implemented, but a theory proposed by Reddit user ZanderAndBass suggests that two more Pokemon Tools are forthcoming: Focus Sash and Leftovers. These cards already exist as Pokemon Tools in the physical trading card game, with Focus Sash preventing a knockout when attacked while at full HP, and Leftovers granting an additional 20 HP to the holder each time the player’s turn concludes.
Pokemon TCG Pocket May Add Focus Sash and Leftovers
The fan formulated their hypothesis using the Chimchar-themed background introduced on February 7 in the temporary shop for the ongoing Pokemon TCG Pocket Wonder Pick event, which concludes on February 21. The design showcases artistic representations of Chimchar’s face accompanied by other symbols, such as an apple core representing Leftovers, a belt symbolizing a Focus Sash, and a bunch of bananas suggesting a Nanab Berry from the Pokemon games. While the real-world trading card game lacks a Nanab Berry card at present, it’s possible that the developers are hinting at the potential inclusion of the other two items in future releases.
The possibility of Leftovers joining the game stirs a feeling of apprehension among some players. Stalling strategies are on the rise in the mobile card battler, with Pokemon TCG Pocket Druddigon decks and newly introduced high HP cards such as Regirock and Registeel often used to absorb damage in active slots while cards on the bench gather energy and evolution cards. This has left many players frustrated by opponents’ stall tactics, and introducing Leftovers might exacerbate the issue.
