Football Manager 25 Delayed To March 2025

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say I understand Sports Interactive’s predicament all too well. Delays are never fun, but when it comes to games as immersive and intricate as Football Manager, I’d rather wait an extra six months than play a rushed version that falls short of the series’ high standards.

The release of Football Manager 25 has been postponed once more, now set for March 2025 as confirmed by the developers, Sports Interactive.

The decision comes after talks with SEGA, the studio’s licensors and partners.

Initially slated for release in September, the game was delayed until November due to some features being taken out. Yet, this short delay didn’t allow Sports Interactive to achieve the desired quality level they aim for.

The extra time given wasn’t enough for us to deliver a game that matches both your preferences and our exceptional level of quality,” the team explained.

They added: “Deadlines were already pressing, and as you’ve noted in your recent comments, we’ve been hurrying excessively which could potentially affect our standard quality. This has created a significant amount of stress for everyone involved in the studio who are all dedicated to creating an exceptional game.

In simple terms, Football Manager 25 represents a significant change within the series as the game transitions from the Sports Interactive Operating System (SIOS) to the Unity Engine. This transition presents new hurdles for the development team, as it represents the most substantial technical and visual upgrade in the series for quite some time.

They stated that it’s essential not to rush the release of this pivotal moment in Football Manager’s history during this period, as we must avoid compromising its delivery.

Indeed, it wasn’t foreseen that we would find ourselves in this position seven weeks post-release. However, staying true to our studio’s ethos, we continually focus on the broader perspective – and the broader perspective here is that we require this extra time to develop a game that we can all take pride in.

The game has been set for March 2025, but we don’t have a precise launch date yet. More information about early access for players, including the official release date, is expected to be shared at a later point in time.
