FromSoftware has implemented clever tweaks in Elden Ring Nightreign that provide a slight advantage during larger battles. Now, dodging grabs from bosses is slightly more manageable, but escaping their grasp becomes trickier if you find yourself ensnared by a monstrous creature.
In simpler terms, Zullie the Witch, an expert in Nightreign’s deepdive, shared a detailed analysis of modifications, focusing on changes made to grappling moves. A key point to remember is that multiplayer fights now feature clear, visual indicators for when a grab technique is about to be executed, which is something you might have observed already.
Now, a radiant flash accompanied by sound occurs before the creature you’re fighting makes a powerful strike, giving you more time to dodge effectively. Time it perfectly, and you’ll receive a 15% boost to your Ultimate Arts, but beware as this requires precise avoidance.
As a fellow Nightfarer, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news: should you find yourself ensnared by their sinuous grips, there’s hope! Now, even while captive, enemies can be attacked and staggered, causing them to drop you. What a relief it is to have this new tactic in our arsenal!
When dealing with FromSoftware games, there’s a constant balance of giving and receiving. Some Nightlords have unavoidable grips, meaning that even frantic button mashing won’t free you quicker unless you receive assistance from other players. For instance, the Centipede Demon and Gaping Dragon bosses from Dark Souls now require more stamina to escape. Previously, escaping required pressing buttons up to 25HP, but now it requires double that, which is 50 HP. However, it’s still achievable since this increase only adds an extra five seconds to the process.
In other words, successfully handling the Centipede Demon situation just as the third strike comes at 5.2 seconds means you escape unscathed before sustaining heavy damage. In essence, avoiding capture appears to be the most effective approach in this case.
