In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, For Whom The Bell Tolls is one of the most challenging missions. If you’ve invested around 10 to 12 hours into gameplay (varies based on your style), you might find yourself stuck on this quest. Don’t worry, I’m here with a comprehensive guide for For Whom The Bell Tolls, detailing the quickest way to complete it.
❗ Caution: The following discussion may reveal significant plot points. If you haven’t yet attended the wedding in Semine, I recommend you stop reading here.
How To Complete For Whom The Bell Tolls in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
In “For Whom The Bell Tolls,” we find Henry in a predicament at Trosky Castle, assigned to labor as penance for his actions during the wedding in Semine. Right off the bat, the game thrusts us into a grim situation, stripping players of all their belongings – from clothing and supplies to valuable Saviour Schnapps elixirs.
In this operation, time isn’t on your side as you navigate through an area teeming with guards, off-limits sectors, and various hazards.
In the new version, I tried to make it more conversational and descriptive, using “navigate through” instead of “in”, and adding “off-limits sectors” and “various hazards” to provide a better mental image.
While it may seem challenging, rest assured that you can successfully accomplish the task at hand. This guide I’ve prepared for “For Whom The Bell Tolls” is a comprehensive, step-by-step walkthrough, ensuring you’ll complete the mission in the quickest and safest manner possible.
Completing the mission for “For Whom The Bell Tolls” might seem tough, but don’t worry! Here’s my detailed guide to help you finish it as quickly and securely as possible.
1. Start at the gate
Here, your responsibilities will include lifting bags of coal, but if you find that role unappealing right away, feel free to explore other opportunities. It’s beneficial to tackle some optional missions and additional tasks scattered throughout the castle for experience points, but it’s not compulsory.
2. Go to the second gate
Head inside the courtyard and make for the second gate, heading deeper into the castle grounds.
3. Get the lockpick
Directly across from the courtyard entrance, you’ll find the blacksmith’s area. On a shelf within that space, there’s a locked box. Inside it, you’ll discover a lockpick – keep this item handy as you’ll require it later.
4. Go through the archway on the left of the courtyard and through the right-hand door
Time to move quietly. Make your way through this gateway and follow the trail until you reach two entrances; opt for the one on your right side instead.
5. Go up the stairs and through the green door
From this point, you’ll want to start sneaking.
6. Go through the next room and up the stairs – but beware
In the picture you’re looking at, he’s not present, but when you ascend the stairs, you’ll encounter a guard. To reach your destination, it would be wise to go that direction. To draw his attention elsewhere, sneakily toss a small object against the window as a distraction. This should divert him from the staircase, allowing you to continue your climb unnoticed.
7. Go up into the roof and up the tallest tower
Here, there are no limitations on your actions. Feel free to climb the numerous steps leading to the tower’s summit. That’s where you’ll reconnect with Captain Thomas once more. He can provide assistance for your crucial mission, but unfortunately, he has fallen ill. Your job now is to retrieve a potion to aid him in his recovery.
Fortunately, I can help you figure out how to do that.
8. Go back the way you came, distracting the same guard away from the staircase
Once you’ve pushed past that guard, it’s almost plain sailing back into the courtyard.
9. Go back outside and past the courtyard
Now, you should make your way towards the staircase situated across the courtyard. Just a heads-up, this part calls for quiet and careful movement.
10. Keep going until you reach the ‘stone cave’ room
Once you reach this room, you’ll want to keep heading up, up, up.
11. Enter the brown door
Go through this door – you shouldn’t encounter any guards here.
12. Go to the room on the right and deal with Katherine
Once more, Katherine returns, yet her contributions remain minimal beyond a casual chat. It’s up to you to tackle this challenge independently.
13. Get the Physician’s Book
Here is a Physician’s Manual conveniently placed, essential for understanding the recipe of Fever Tonic, a key ingredient for finishing “For Whom The Bell Tolls” quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
14. Lockpick the chest (Very Easy) and acquire all the items inside
In this box, you’ll find all the components for preparing Fever Tonic as described in For Whom The Bell Tolls. Even if you’re new to Alchemy, it’s quite manageable. The game offers a guided process, so there’s no need to worry.
Whilst visiting, remember to explore other Alchemy guides, including locating Belladonna in KCD2.
Once you’ve brewed the potion, it’s time to get moving.
As a gamer, I’d say, “I gotta redo steps 4 through 7 to find Captain Thomas again, so I can hand him that potion. That should ease his illness and wrap up For Whom The Bell Tolls for good.
That’s the fastest quest guide for For Whom The Bell Tolls that you’ll find online. Best of luck!
