Once you solve the Origin of Thought puzzle in the Abyss, you’ll be transported to the Crimson Desert. There, you’ll encounter a tornado and be presented with the Forgotten Altar puzzle, leaving you feeling trapped in a chaotic situation.

Okay, so this altar is pretty obscure, but don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! I’ve put together a simple, step-by-step guide to solving the Forgotten Altar right here. It’ll help you breeze through this Abyss puzzle without getting stuck or having to overthink things. Let’s get it done!

How to Complete the Forgotten Altar Puzzle in Crimson Desert

Step #1: Reach the Desert Tornado

  1. As you spawn into the puzzle, look left to find a ball on the floor.
  2. Use Axiom Force (L3) on the ball and place it in the empty slot up the stairs, which will activate the batteries around the arena.
  3. On the south side of the room, you can find a now-active wind turbine, which you can use to fly upwards to the top with the tornado.

Step #2: Deactivate the Tornado with Nature’s Snare

  1. There’s another active turbine on this upper platform, which you can use to stand on top of the tornado itself.
  2. When facing the tornado, activate Nature’s Snare (L3+R3 then rotate the Right Stick clockwise.)
  3. Nature’s Snare will slow down the tornado until it eventually shuts off.

If you haven’t unlocked Nature’s Snare yet, you can get it by spending points in the green skill tree as an Abyss Artifact.

Step #3: Access the Puzzle Box and Activate the Abyss Gate

  1. Drop down onto the ground floor, where in the center you will now find a cube.
  2. Climb on any side of the cube so that you’re hanging onto it.
  3. While on the cube, hold L2 to “Resist” and then hit R3 to Force Palm, which will rotate you inside.
  4. Use Force Palm on the ground to activate the battery, and then exit the cube the same way you came in.
  5. You can now head east towards the Abyss Gate to grab an Abyss Artifact and start the next puzzle!
