Forgotten My Hero Academia Characters With Awesome Quirks

Summary

  • Obscure characters in My Hero Academia, like Toxic Chainsaw and Daikaku Miyagi, have unique quirks and designs.
  • All the minor villains from the U.S.J. Arc have interesting names and quirks, but were largely forgotten after their initial appearance.
  • Mawata Fuwa and the rest of Class 2-A deserve more screen time to showcase their potential as heroes.

Delving into Kohei Horikoshi’s breathtaking masterpiece, My Hero Academia, has introduced me to a sprawling ensemble of heroes and villains that are not just extraordinary but truly iconic. The series’ immense popularity and influence have etched characters such as Izuku Midoriya, All Might, Katsuki Bakugo, and numerous others into the very fabric of the shōnen action genre. I am continually amazed by the depth and richness of these characters!

Not every fan can claim such fortune, for the character roster in “My Hero Academia” is astoundingly vast, meaning numerous characters, though they have distinct abilities and captivating appearances, often go unremembered by many viewers, despite having names. Unquestionably, a multitude of characters find themselves in this undesirable situation. However, the cases outlined below are the most intriguing instances of this occurrence.

1. Toxic Chainsaw

A Strong Villain With An Infamous Reputation

  • Debut: Chapter 1 (Manga) Episode 2 (Anime)

In the fan base of My Hero Academia, there’s a widespread misunderstanding. Many fans mistakenly assume that a lesser-known villain named Toxic Chainsaw caused the massive scar on All Might’s chest, despite All Might himself debunking this theory (it was later discovered that All For One was actually the culprit).

It’s clear that Deku quickly mentioned Toxic Chainsaw and genuinely thought it could have inflicted such a significant scar on All Might’s body, demonstrating just how powerful and dangerous he must be. Later, Kohei Horikoshi unveiled a sketch of this villain, offering fans a tantalizing glimpse into the mysteries surrounding his possible quirk and combat style.

2. The U.S.J. Villains

A Bunch Of Fodder With Solid Designs

  • Debut: Chapter 13 (Manga) Episode 9 (Anime)

During the U.S.J. Arc, when the League of Villains stormed U.A. High School, people were quickly drawn to them. Characters like Shigaraki and Kurogiri even became popular among fans. However, it might surprise some fans to know that every minor character they brought in for the attack on the Unforeseen Simulation Joint also has a full name.

In the thrilling world of “My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero,” I’ve recently uncovered some lesser-known characters, each with their unique abilities or “quirks.” Among these intriguing villains, there are standouts like Victor, Stitched Giant, Needle Hair, Steel Bulwark, Minotaurus, Bye-Bites, and Invisible Wall. It’s a pity that these formidable foes were merely cannon fodder, swiftly dispatched by the U.A. students and All Might in our current arc. These villains have captivating designs and quirks that could have escalated into epic battles against our heroes if they were to resurface in future storylines!

3. Daikaku Miyagi

A Famous Newscaster With A Notorious Quirk

  • Debut: Chapter 57 (Manga) Episode 31 (Anime)

The intriguing construction of “My Hero Academia” lies in its portrayal of everyday individuals who chose paths other than heroism or villainy, and the unique ways their quirks influence their professions. A captivating character embodying this type is Daikaku Miyagi, a renowned newscaster whose role involves reporting and analyzing the actions of heroes and villains on television.

In the seventh volume of the comic book series, it was disclosed by Horikoshi that Daikaku willingly amputated one of his horns for convenience on his television program. However, this act sparked outrage among human rights activists who perceived it as a rejection of Daikaku’s Mutant-Type ability. This peculiar trait of his is known as Big Horn, causing two massive horns to sprout from his forehead, despite him being missing one.

4. Moko Tamashi

The Last Civilian Who All Might Saved Before Retiring

  • Debut: Chapter 92 (Manga) Episode 49 (Anime)

Among the countless individuals All Might, the Pro Hero and Symbol of Peace, has saved throughout his long career, one stands out uniquely as an exceptional character – Moko Tamashi. Although many fans might not recall her or know her name, she is the woman whom All Might rescued during his last battle with All For One, just before he surrendered One For All and retired.

During the Dark Hero Arc, Moko made her return, and it was unveiled that she frequently maintained the All Might statue on Kamino to prevent defacement following the Paranormal Liberation War. This short but touching moment beautifully demonstrated the lasting effect All Might had on society, even in the aftermath of his sudden retirement.

5. Teruo Hazukashi

A Villainous But Harmless Office Worker With A Pathetic Quirk

  • Debut: Chapter 186 (Manga) Episode 87 (Anime)

It’s important to note that not every criminal confronted by Pro Heroes is necessarily a villain. Some are simply ordinary citizens, struggling with difficult circumstances, who unfortunately resort to using their quirks in harmful ways. A case in point is Teruo Hazukashi, a former office worker driven to despair and seeking revenge against his company, albeit influenced by Destro’s autobiography.

In a public setting, Teruo chose to strip down, triggering his “Shame” ability which amplified his power based on his humiliation. Thankfully, Hawks intervened before things escalated further, and it seems Teruo disappeared from the public eye. Despite his mortifying stunt, Teruo was essentially harmless, making him more of a nuisance than a villain. It’s plausible that he resumed his everyday life after serving some time in prison.

6. Hiroshi Tameda

The Real Identity Of The “Can’t You See?” Kid

  • Debut: Chapter 186 (Manga) Episode 87 (Anime)

The crucial showdown between Endeavor and Hood served as a pivotal point in the series, demonstrating that Enji Todoroki truly deserved the title of Japan’s upcoming top Pro Hero. However, his standing was significantly elevated by a young television viewer who encouraged audiences to trust in Endeavor and continue supporting him throughout his grueling fight against the formidable Nomu.

This youngster, known as “Can’t You See?” Kid within the storyline, gained fame due to his inspiring demeanor and catchphrase. His real name is Hiroshi Tameda. It’s noteworthy that he admires Endeavor, and though he appeared briefly during the Final War Arc, he was seen cheering on both Endeavor and the other Pro Heroes. Given his pink hair and fondness for a character with pyrokinetic abilities, many spectators speculate that Hiroshi is modeled after Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail; they even share voice actors in the English Dub.

7. Untenmaru Kurumada

Endeavor’s Extravagant Chauffeur

  • Debut: Chapter 250 (Manga) Episode 106 (Anime)

The Endeavor Agency Saga provided viewers with a more intimate perspective on Enji Todoroki’s private life, introducing his chauffeur – a flamboyant, boisterous man with an impressive mustache who could rival Katsuki Bakugo in terms of loudness during heated arguments.

This little-known yet amusing character made a mark on fans, and it’s quite possible they don’t know his name is Untenmaru Kurumada. Despite his gruff demeanor, he takes his duties seriously as he was seen working for the Todoroki family following the events of the Final War Arc. Interestingly enough, details from Volume 26 disclose that Untenmaru has a fondness for flowers.

8. Mawata Fuwa

A Pro Hero From Class 2-A Who Deserved More Screen Time

  • Debut: Chapter 254 (Manga) Episode 107 (Anime)

In “My Hero Academia,” the story primarily revolves around Deku’s first year at U.A. High School, but characters from the third year, notably the Big 3, become significant later on. Interestingly, there are no major series characters that hail from U.A.’s second year, with the exception of one named Mawata Fuwa.

Despite boasting an intriguing appearance, particularly when donning her hero costume, Mawata has yet to be observed in action. As a result, the specifics of her quirk and hero name remain unbeknownst to us. Given Mawata’s appearance as a competent Pro Hero and a seemingly admirable individual, it’s truly unfortunate that spectators have not been afforded the opportunity to learn more about her or any other members of Class 2-A.
