Forgotten World of Warcraft Character Could Be Returning in Patch 11.2.7

Vereesa Windrunner is expected to return in World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7, connecting the storylines of The War Within and Midnight. While not officially announced, clues found in the Midnight alpha strongly suggest her involvement and reveal the patch’s likely title: “Visions of a Shadowed Sun.”

Vereesa Windrunner is often overshadowed by her sisters, particularly Sylvanas. While she’s been involved in several expansions – including *Cataclysm*, *Mists of Pandaria*, *Legion*, and *Battle for Azeroth* – and has made minor appearances in *Shadowlands* and *Dragonflight*, she hasn’t received the same focus as other characters. Even Alleria, who wasn’t present for a long period, has gained more prominence, especially with her important role in *The War Within*.

Vereesa Windrunner Set to Return in WoW Patch 11.2.7

After more than five years, Vereesa Windrunner appears to be getting a major spotlight in the game. Recent data mining by Wowhead revealed an updated character model and even a cinematic model for her. Details from upcoming quests suggest players will travel with Vereesa and Alleria’s son, Arator, to Oztan Isle (near the Isle of Dorn) to investigate troubling visions Vereesa has been experiencing. The quest information also mentions her late husband, Rhonin.

Beyond what’s been discovered through data analysis, the upcoming content is directly hinted at within the *World of Warcraft: Midnight* alpha test. Two new achievements, “Visions of a Shadowed Sun” and “Ready for Midnight,” are visible in the game. The first achievement is broken down into three parts: “Radiant Visions,” “A Meeting with Minn’da,” and “Paths Forward.” Considering this, it’s highly probable that these achievements relate to the story uncovered in the data analysis, and that “Visions of a Shadowed Sun” could be the name of the story campaign, or even Patch 11.2.7 itself.

When the first versions of *The War Within* were being developed, Vereesa Windrunner wasn’t included at all, even though her city, Dalaran, was destroyed at the beginning of the story. Later, *World of Warcraft* added some lines of dialogue from Alleria explaining where her sister was, but fans who remembered Vereesa still missed her. Because of this, players are very excited to see her return.

Vereesa isn’t the only Windrunner returning! Along with her appearance in this story arc, Arator will have a significant role in *World of Warcraft: Midnight*, even though he’s only been seen as illusions since *Legion*. Blizzard has also hinted that Sylvanas will reappear after her storyline concluded in *Shadowlands*. With Alleria also confirmed for *Midnight*, fans of the Windrunner sisters have a lot to look forward to in the Worldsoul Saga.
