As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the news about Fortnite OG having up to 90 bots in a single game has left me both amused and perplexed. On one hand, it’s intriguing to see how developers are using advanced algorithms to create realistic opponents for players of varying skill levels. However, as someone who’s spent countless hours honing my gaming skills, I can’t help but feel a bit cheated when I’m up against what appears to be a programmed opponent.
After the triumphant debut and safe return of Fortnite OG, there are allegations suggesting that certain games might contain as many as 90 artificial players (bots).
Based on reports from trustworthy Fortnite insiders like osirion_gg, it’s suggested that Fortnite OG lobbies will feature 90 bots per match in lower skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) games. This means that lower SBMM lobbies are primarily for players who aren’t as skilled at the game. To help these players feel like they’re performing well, they’re paired with a large number of bots instead of more experienced opponents.
Based on reports from sources, the decision was apparently taken due to a surge of experienced Fortnite players returning, thanks to Fortnite OG. This influx may have caused frustration among less-skilled players, leading them to quit playing. Moreover, these sources mentioned that in high skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) lobbies, there are only 10 computer-controlled characters and 90 real ones.
After the leaks, numerous videos showcasing players who seem like they’re automated, or low-skill bots, have popped up on the internet.
Recently, Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM) has sparked a great deal of debate among gamers, with many expressing concerns that it discourages them from continuing to play multiplayer games. On the other hand, companies like Activision, who have strengthened their SBMM systems in games such as Call of Duty, claim that this change has led to increased player retention due to the improved gameplay experience.
Currently, Epic Games hasn’t made an official statement about introducing bots and skill-based matchmaking in Fortnite. However, should they make any formal announcements, we will promptly update this write-up for you.
