Summary
- Forza Horizon 5 is rumored to be coming to the Switch 2.
- The 2021 open-world racing game was just announced for the PS5 on January 30.
- Microsoft is rumored to be working on bringing many more first-party Xbox games to the Switch 2.
It’s rumored that Forza Horizon 5 might be coming to the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. This racing game set in an open world could potentially be a small part of the vast content that Microsoft may unveil for the new Nintendo console.
Since its debut in 2005, Microsoft’s Forza series was initially available only on Xbox consoles for a full ten years. However, since 2015, new installments of this series have become accessible not only on Xbox consoles but also on personal computers. Now, as the franchise prepares to embark on its third decade, it’s expanding to another platform: Forza Horizon 5 has been recently announced for PlayStation 5 on January 30.
As a dedicated fan, I’m excitedly speculating that Forza Horizon 5 could potentially expand beyond the PS5, hinted by Extas1s. This Spanish YouTube sensation, renowned for his accurate Xbox Game Pass leaks, seems to suggest that we might also see Forza Horizon 5 on the Switch 2. In a January 30 tweet, he reflected on the announcement of the PS5 version, but didn’t offer any additional details about the potential Switch 2 release, leaving us hanging about the exact debut date.
Many Other Xbox Games Are Reportedly Coming to the Switch 2
It’s possible that the next game in the Forza Horizon series may not be the only Xbox title heading to Nintendo’s upcoming console, the Switch 2. A report from Brazilian journalist Pedro “PH Brazil” Henrique Lutti Lippe in mid-January 2025 suggests that Microsoft is developing multiple games for the Switch 2. Titles like Doom: The Dark Ages, which were previously rumored for the Switch 2 successor, could potentially be on this list. Other Xbox exclusives such as Diablo 4, Fallout 4, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and Starfield have also been rumored to be coming to the Switch 2.
Forza Horizon 5 Seems Likely To Reach the PS5 Before Switch 2
Despite rumors of a Forza Horizon 5 port for Switch 2, it seems that the PlayStation version may hit the market first, aiming for a spring 2025 release which could mean availability as late as June 2025. In contrast, the Switch 2 itself has yet to announce a release date, with its pop-up preview events extending only up until early June, suggesting that the console might not debut before mid-2025 at the very least.
On April 2, we anticipate receiving further details about the games scheduled for the launch of the new Switch 2 console. This information will be unveiled during the inaugural Nintendo Direct dedicated to the Switch 2.
