Forza Horizon 6 Has Bad News for PlayStation Players

Microsoft has confirmed that the new racing game, Forza Horizon 6, will initially only be released on PC and Xbox Series X/S, leaving PlayStation 5 players out at launch. This is disappointing news for many PS5 gamers who were anticipating the game would be available on all platforms at the same time.

The latest installment in the *Forza Horizon* series, *Forza Horizon 6*, was unveiled at Tokyo Game Show 2025 and will take place in Japan. Although we haven’t seen how the game will actually play yet, the developers have confirmed it will feature both bustling cityscapes and peaceful countryside areas, ranging from the bright lights of Tokyo to Japan’s scenic mountains and rural landscapes. The team aims to create a vast open-world racing experience that truly captures the spirit of Japan, and they promise the most detailed environment in the entire *Forza Horizon* series.

Forza Horizon 6 Won’t be on PlayStation 5 at Launch

Microsoft recently announced on Xbox Wire that *Forza Horizon 6* will initially be available on Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2026, meaning it won’t be released on PlayStation 5 at the same time. While there’s no confirmed release date for PS5 yet, Microsoft has stated that a version for PlayStation 5 is in development. This means PS5 players will be able to enjoy the next *Forza Horizon* game, just at a later date.

Although some games don’t take long to bring to new platforms, it took nearly four years for *Forza Horizon 5* to come to PS5. Microsoft’s approach to releasing games on multiple platforms has shifted recently, as seen with titles like *Doom: The Dark Ages*, which launched everywhere at once. *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle* followed on PS5 in about five months. Therefore, a wait of several months to a year for future releases wouldn’t be surprising.

As a big racing game fan, I was really surprised to hear that *Forza Horizon 6* isn’t coming to PS5 right away. *Forza Horizon 5* did so well on PlayStation – it sold over 2 million copies in just one month, which is amazing for a game that’s already been out for a while! A lot of us were hoping Microsoft would keep bringing the series to all platforms, so this is a bit of a letdown. I’m really hoping it won’t be too long before PlayStation owners like me can experience the fun of racing around Japan in *Forza Horizon 6*.
