Forza Horizon 6 Setting Is Now Official

The next installment in the Forza Horizon series, Forza Horizon 6, has been officially announced at Tokyo Game Show 2025. Though details are still limited, the announcement confirms many of the rumors that have been circulating about the new game.

One of the biggest clues about the location of *Forza Horizon 6* came from a leak last August. An Australian car importer, Cult and Classics, accidentally revealed that Playground Games was researching small Japanese cars – known as Kei cars – for the next *Forza Horizon* game. This led fans to believe the sequel to *Forza Horizon 5* would likely be set in Japan.

Forza Horizon 6 Confirms Japan Setting and Release Window

I was so excited when they finally announced *Forza Horizon 6* at the Xbox Tokyo Game Show! It’s been a long time coming, but it’s really happening! The teaser was short – just a cool CGI clip showing a garage filled with Japanese stuff, then a beautiful shot of Mount Fuji. We didn’t get to see any actual gameplay yet, but Microsoft did confirm it’s coming out sometime in 2026, which is awesome!

Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Version Already Confirmed

Forza Horizon 6 will first be available on Xbox Series X/S and PC. Microsoft has confirmed that a PlayStation 5 version is also planned. The possibility of a PS5 release has been discussed since Forza Horizon 5 became very popular on the platform, selling 2 million copies shortly after its release in late April 2025. While pre-orders haven’t been announced yet, PC players can add Forza Horizon 6 to their Steam wishlists now.

Forza Horizon 6 Platforms

Platform Release Window
PC (Steam | Xbox Store) 2026
Xbox Series X/S 2026
Xbox Game Pass (PC, Ultimate) 2026
PlayStation 5 Post-release, likely 2027

Playground Games has confirmed that, in addition to the Mount Fuji region shown in the teaser, *Forza Horizon 6* will include city areas like Tokyo. The studio said they listened to fans who have been asking for a *Forza Horizon* game set in Japan for years, and that request played a big part in choosing the game’s location. Japan’s vibrant car scene was also a key reason for the decision.

Narrowing Down Forza Horizon 6 Release Window

Although Microsoft hasn’t given a specific release date for *Forza Horizon 6*, we can estimate when it will come out. Considering past releases and the fact that 2026 is almost here, a launch in the latter half of the year seems more probable than the first half. Every previous *Forza Horizon* game has been released between October and November, so *Forza Horizon 6* will likely arrive before the 2026 holiday season – a peak sales period for video games – unless there are unforeseen delays.
