As a die-hard fan, I’m buzzing with excitement over a tantalizing rumor that’s been circulating lately. It seems like Forza Horizon 6 might be taking us to a location fans have been yearning for, for years! If the leaks are to be believed, the next installment in our globe-trotting open-world arcade racer series could potentially lay down tires in an adored nation nestled within Northeast Asia’s subregion. Fingers crossed, we might just be in for a heartwarming ride!
The Forza Horizon series, created by Playground Games, sets each new installment in a fictional representation of a real-world nation. To date, players have explored expansive open worlds modeled after Colorado, France, Italy, Australia, Britain, and Mexico. Each game has received varying levels of acclaim from fans, but one specific location has been consistently requested for quite some time now.
Forza Horizon 6 Could Be Heading to Japan
The latest installment of the popular racing game series Forza Horizon is expected to launch in 2026 as part of Xbox’s 25th anniversary celebrations. This has led to much excitement and speculation about the game’s location, with recent rumors pointing towards Japan. These rumors have intensified following an Instagram post by Cult and Classic, an Australian car importer, which suggested that a developer from Playground Games was seen photographing late-model Kei cars for the upcoming Forza Horizon title. Kei cars are primarily Japanese, lending credence to the idea that Forza Horizon 6 could potentially take us to Japan, also known as the Land of the Rising Sun.
It’s thrilling news that Forza Horizon is finally set to explore Japan as a location, considering its long-standing popularity among fans. From bustling cities to picturesque mountain passes, vast snowy landscapes, and winding highways, Japan boasts an incredible variety of environments. Notably, its car culture is globally acclaimed, with unique subcultures like Bosozoku, lowrider cars, RWB Porsches, flashy Lamborghinis, and others that could bring a fresh perspective to the Forza Horizon series and even mainstream racing games as a whole.
While it’s exciting to see a Playground developer examining a Kei car, fans should not jump to conclusions that this confirms the location of Forza Horizon 6 as Japan. It’s important to note that Kei cars have been featured in past Forza games, such as the 1993 Autozam AZ-1 in Forza Horizon 5 and the 1958 Subaru 360 in Forza Motorsport 7. Consequently, it would be wiser to hold off on assumptions about the game’s setting until more information becomes available. As for when we might expect an official announcement, potential possibilities include a January 2026 Xbox Developer Direct or the next summer’s Xbox Games Showcase.
