Free Pokemon Alert for Scarlet & Violet Players!

At the Pokemon Japan Championships in 2025, trainers who attend will receive a unique Amoonguss that was part of the World Champion’s team in 2024. Currently, this Amoonguss can only be obtained by players attending Pokemon Scarlet and Violet events. However, it might become available online at a later date.

Originally debuting in Pokemon Black and White, the character known as Amoonguss is famously referred to as the Mushroom Pokemon. This creature evolves from Foongus starting at level 39, and it’s unique in its dual-type classification, being both Grass and Poison. In competitive Pokemon battles, Amoonguss stands out due to its high HP and good special attack stats, making it a valuable ally with abilities like Spore, Rage Powder, and Toxic that can weaken opponents. Additionally, an exclusive Paradox variant of Amoonguss called Brute Bonnet was introduced in Pokemon Scarlet, where it’s found throughout Area Zero, representing a prehistoric Grass and Dark dual-type.

In the sprawling grasslands of the Paldean regions, both Amoonguss and Foongus are commonly spotted. However, participants in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games have an opportunity to obtain a unique variant of the Mushroom Pokemon. As reported by ComicBook, a special Amoonguss modeled after the one used by 2024 Pokemon Senior Division World Champion Ray Yamanaka will be distributed during the 2025 Pokemon Japan Championships in Yokohama on June 21 and 22. Initially, only those physically attending the event will receive it; however, players may later acquire this Amoonguss via Mystery Gift online at a future, unspecified date.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Amoonguss Distribution Details

  • An Amoonguss modeled after one used by Pokemon Champion Ray Yamanaka will be distributed on June 21 and 22.
  • The Amoonguss will be given away exclusively at the 2025 Pokemon Japan Championships in Yokohama.
  • Online distributions for Amoonguss may be held at a later date.
  • Yamanaka’s Amoonguss will have the moves Spore, Sludge Bomb, Protect, and Rage Powder.

In simpler terms, Yamanaka’s Amoonguss has the abilities Spore, Sludge Bomb, Protect, and Rage Powder, making it a challenging foe for Grass and Fairy Pokémon. These moves can be used to delay or prolong the battle with Amooguss. In double battles, Sludge Bomb can be replaced with Pollen Puff. This allows healing of a teammate or inflicting Bug-type damage on Psychic Pokémon who might try to take advantage of Amoonguss’s weakness to Poison attacks.

At the moment, Amoonguss distribution is limited to the 2025 Pokémon Japan Championships. However, players of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet can still secure various items and creatures through Mystery Gift distributions. For instance, trainers can obtain Rillaboom, used by Pokemon Champion Wei Chyr, using the code “R1LLAB00M2024TW” in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet before July 31. Additionally, rewards like a pack of Sandwich Ingredients and Rotom Phone Cases can also be obtained via Mystery Gift Codes.

It’s not necessary to have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription in order to redeem Mystery Gifts. With the announcement that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will receive graphical and performance enhancements on the Switch 2 as of June 5, Pokemon trainers have much to anticipate.
