Free PS Plus Games for January 2025 Revealed

Summary

  • Free PS Plus games for January 2025 include Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.
  • They will be available to claim starting Tuesday, January 7.

As a long-time PlayStation Plus subscriber, I have to admit that 2024 was a fantastic year for free games! The lineup of titles ranged from older classics to brand-new releases, and it was always exciting to see what new additions would be made available each month.

However, as we move into the new year, I can’t help but feel a little underwhelmed by the January 2025 lineup. Don’t get me wrong – the games themselves are not bad, but I’m just not sure they’re going to resonate with the majority of PlayStation Plus subscribers.

For example, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” is a relatively new game that has received mixed reviews from critics and has already been on sale for as low as $5. While I’m always up for trying something new, I can’t help but wonder if this title will be met with the same enthusiasm as some of the other free games we’ve seen in the past.

“Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered” is another game that I think may divide opinions. On one hand, it’s an enhanced version of a well-reviewed racing game that should provide hours of fun for racing fans. On the other hand, as someone who doesn’t particularly enjoy racing games, I can see how this might be a disappointment to some subscribers who were hoping for something different.

Finally, “The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe” is a mind-bending, narrative-driven first-person game that has its moments, but being an updated version of a game that’s over a decade old might not be enough to excite many subscribers.

All in all, I have to say that the January 2025 lineup is a bit of a mixed bag. While I’m always grateful for the opportunity to try out new games for free, I can’t help but feel that this particular selection may not be as well-received as some of the previous months.

On a lighter note, I can’t help but wonder what the PlayStation Plus subscribers will say about these choices – I’m half expecting to see a flood of memes and jokes on social media! After all, when it comes to gaming, nothing brings people together quite like a good old-fashioned “what were they thinking?” moment. 😉

Sony has officially unveiled the complimentary PlayStation Plus games scheduled for January 2025. The previous year, 2024, was an exhilarating time for PlayStation Plus members as they received a diverse selection of free games. Among these were older titles such as WWE 2K24, newer releases like some occasions, and even fresh, day-one launches on certain instances.

As a dedicated gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I am always on the lookout for new and exciting titles to add to my collection. Recently, I was thrilled to learn that the current lineup of free PlayStation Plus games includes three fantastic titles: It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent, and Temtem.

It Takes Two is a co-op game that won Game of the Year in 2021, and it’s easy to see why. The gameplay is engaging, the graphics are stunning, and the storyline keeps me hooked from start to finish. I can’t wait to play it with a friend, as it was designed for two players to experience together.

Aliens: Dark Descent is another gem in the lineup, based on the popular Aliens franchise. As a fan of the movies, I can appreciate the attention to detail and the challenging gameplay that this strategy game offers. It’s a great way to immerse myself in the universe of the iconic sci-fi horror series.

Lastly, Temtem is like a modern take on Pokemon, with an MMORPG twist. I’ve always been a fan of the Pokemon series, and Temtem offers a fresh take that keeps me coming back for more. The gameplay is engaging, and I love collecting new creatures to battle with.

As a PlayStation Plus subscriber, I’m grateful for these free games, as they offer a great value for my subscription. I can’t wait to play them until January 6, and I’m already looking forward to the first freebies of the new year on the following day. If you’re a gamer like me, don’t miss out on these fantastic games!

For PlayStation Plus subscribers in January 2025, you can grab three exciting titles: “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” “Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered,” and “The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.” These games will be available for download from Tuesday, January 7, up until Monday, February 3. After this period, the free games for February 2025 will replace them.

PS Plus Free Games for January 2025 List

  • Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered
  • Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
  • The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe

The recently released game, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” is typically a valuable addition to a service like PS Plus due to its recency. However, the game has received negative reviews from critics and was discounted significantly to $5. Since the live service aspects of “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” have already ceased, being offered for free on PS Plus won’t help revive support for the game. Nevertheless, having the opportunity to play it without cost may soften some fans’ views towards its shortcomings.

The updated edition of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit offers an exhilarating racing experience, promising countless hours of enjoyment for enthusiasts of the genre. However, it’s important to note that racing games may not capture everyone’s interest, and some PlayStation Plus subscribers might find it less appealing when a sports/racing title is among the free offerings. On the other hand, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe offers a thought-provoking narrative journey in a first-person perspective, boasting incredible creativity in many aspects. Yet, being a reimagined version of a game older than a decade might not resonate with all subscribers.

Looking at it from all angles, it’s not hard to predict that the free PS Plus games for January 2025 might stir up some criticism. Historically, PlayStation Plus members are vocal about their concerns, and this selection could potentially provoke such a reaction. On the other hand, PS Plus subscribers might warmly receive the January 2025 lineup, especially if they’re unfamiliar with any of the free games.
