In just three weeks since its release on December 18, 2024, the free mobile version of the game called “ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition” has been downloaded over three million times. This game is a spin-off, taking place in the same universe as the 2017 hit title “ARK: Survival Evolved“.

Even though it received a mix of positive and negative reviews upon its initial release, the game ARK: Survival Evolved managed to sell quite well, achieving over one million sales before its official debut. The game’s success led to a remastered version called ARK: Survival Ascended being released in early access in 2023, featuring significant graphical improvements. In addition to the main series, the Studio Wildcard-owned franchise has also produced several spin-off titles. One of the latest additions to this lineup is ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, developed by Grove Street Games and currently available on iOS and Android devices. This free-to-play survival game allows players to gather resources, create weapons, build settlements, tame dinosaurs, and engage in similar activities as the console versions of the ARK games.

On January 10, 2025, Snail Games, the company behind ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, declared that within its first three weeks of release, the mobile game was downloaded more than three million times. This launch figure surpassed the number of downloads for the mobile version of ARK: Survival Evolved in 2018, marking a 100% increase in player downloads. Additionally, Snail Games shared that Grove Street Games was currently developing new content for ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition’s dinosaur-filled world, with upcoming maps like Ragnarok, Extinction, Genesis Part 1, and Genesis Part 2 under development.

ARK Mobile Game Sees Promising Launch Stats, Marks Another Strong Release by the Developer

As downloads for ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition increase on both the App Store and Play Store, the game is steadily gaining popularity. Currently, it ranks 24th among adventure games on iOS and 9th among top-grossing adventure games on Android. With a rating of 3.9 out of 5 on the App Store based on 412 reviews, and a 3.6 out of 5 rating on the Play Store from over 52,500 user scores, it’s clear that players are enjoying this new addition to the ARK franchise. Notably, Grove Street Games, who were also responsible for enhancing the Nintendo Switch port of ARK: Survival Evolved in 2022, have contributed another significant launch to the ARK series with this mobile edition.

Following my visit to the official mobile storefronts last month, I’m thrilled to share that ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition will also be accessible through the Epic Games Store in 2025! This means more freedom for players to choose where they download this amazing game from.

Recently, Studio Wildcard unveiled an updated roadmap for the future of ARK: Survival Ascended, offering a sneak peek at the exciting content that’s scheduled to drop over the coming months. I can hardly wait for the studio to spill the beans on the status of ARK 2, which unfortunately seems to have missed its initial release window set for late 2024.
