Summary
- Freedom Wars Remastered has received a March update, addressing many of the game’s bugs and offering some gameplay changes.
- Weapon balancing, new quality-of-life features, and more are on the agenda for future updates.
More recently, the remastered version of Freedom Wars has been updated by its developers at Dimps, bringing numerous gameplay adjustments, bug fixes, and various other enhancements to the action RPG game initially released in January 2025.
Following more than ten years exclusively on PS Vita, the game “Freedom Wars,” initially released in 2014, made its way onto various other platforms after its remastered version debuted on PC, PS5, PS4, and Switch. This new release not only offered improved resolution and frame rate but also introduced additional features in “Freedom Wars Remastered,” such as a harder difficulty level and an enhanced weapon crafting system. Upon launch, it received unfavorable reviews on Steam due to numerous technical problems in the PC version, including slowdowns and frequent crashes. However, the developers at Dimps have been actively working to resolve these issues, with four substantial updates rolled out across all platforms since then.
Back on March 4th, 2025, I was thrilled to find that Freedom Wars Remastered had dropped another update, hot on the heels of three others from January and February. This latest patch aims to squash a variety of problems gamers like me have been encountering with this awesome third-person action game.
The freshly applied patch can be found across all platforms it supports. It tackles crashes inside Request Cooperation rooms, the bug that halted progress beyond CODE 6’s events, and the issue where certain loadout changes didn’t appear when setting up for an operation. For PC gamers like myself, the problem that kept us from adjusting the direction of charged heavy melee attacks while using keyboard-and-mouse has finally been sorted out. PS4 players will no longer face trouble with selecting spawn points in Vs. Operations, either.
As a Freedom Wars Remastered player, I’m excited to share some gameplay enhancements we can expect! The Accessories now behave differently, and the hit detection of the Large Abductor’s gatling gun has been refined. Matchmaking has seen improvements too.
New additions include the ability to dash when holding down the dodge button longer, and transforming private rooms into custom rooms in the multiplayer mode.
Looking ahead, the Freedom Wars Remastered team hinted at upcoming changes like weapon balancing, adding new quality-of-life features, and more! Stay tuned for future patches!
From the frequency of updates for the game Freedom Wars Remastered, it seems that the developers have been putting in extra effort to win over fans once more, following the problematic PC launch version. Whether these fixes will significantly enhance Bandai Namco’s title on Steam, where it currently holds a “Mixed” rating, remains uncertain at this point.
