Frieren Season 2 Episode 1 Release Date And Time

Anime fans are thrilled to see both new shows and beloved classics return as the Winter 2026 season kicks off with several major releases in January. Popular series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Fire Force are back, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is also making a highly anticipated return. After originally airing in 2023 and concluding in 2024, Frieren fans have been eagerly awaiting its revival, which begins this week.

The second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will premiere on January 16, 2026, and fans are incredibly excited for the first episode. While the season will only consist of 10 episodes – a surprise to many – it’s expected to cover the highly awaited Northern Travels and Divine Revolte arcs. Viewers are looking forward to seeing Frieren’s story continue and her character develop further.

Frieren Season 2 Will Begin This Week

  • Episode 1 To Be Released On January 16, 2026
  • 11PM Japan Standard Time Release

I watched as the first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End came out in 2023 and 2024, and it quickly became one of the biggest anime series around. It was a huge success, with fans worldwide giving it rave reviews. It proved popular not just in Japan, but internationally as well.

Now that Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End finished airing in 2024, fans have been eagerly anticipating a second season. Good news – it looks like that season is coming soon!

The first episode of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 will premiere on January 16, 2026, at 11 PM in Japan. Viewers in the US can watch it on the same day, January 16th, but at 6 AM Pacific Time.

Frieren Season 2 Will Run For 10 Episodes

The first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End wasn’t typical for an anime. Most anime seasons have around 24 episodes, but Frieren’s first season had 28, making it over six months long.

Unfortunately, the second season of Frieren will be quite brief. Reports indicate it will only have 10 episodes, meaning it will air for about 10 weeks, or just over two months. This is shorter than most anime seasons, which usually have at least 12 episodes.

It’s understandable, given how quickly the anime is approaching the manga’s current storyline. The manga’s progress has slowed because the authors are facing health challenges. This means that after a second season, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will likely need to pause production until the manga releases enough new material for another season.

Frieren Season 2 Could Cover The Northern Travels and Divine Revolte Arcs

The first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End was a thrilling ride, spanning 28 episodes and adapting the first 60 chapters of the original manga. Throughout the season, viewers enjoyed seeing arcs like ‘Beyond Journey’s End,’ ‘Aura the Guillotine,’ ‘Travels to Äußerst,’ and ‘First-Class Mage Exam’ beautifully animated and directed by MAPPA.

It’s still unknown which story arcs will be in Frieren Season 2. But, the season’s 10 episodes might cover the “Continued Northern Travels” and “Divine Revolte” arcs.

Some parts of the Golden Land Arc might be included in the adaptation, but the complete story will likely be saved for Frieren Season 3. We can expect Frieren Season 2 to finish around chapter 80 of the manga.
